What older Audi did you have? And did you ever have any trouble with it?

That's a beauty man, congratulations! The A3 is just a tad too small for my tastes but there's no question they are one of the best looking small sedans on the market. We need more pics!!!

B7 A4. (2007) Trouble free except at 70k miles I had to replace the cooling fans and Fan Control Module. $1500.00. Other than that pretty much trouble free.

Congrats on the new ride. Love how the new A3 gets back to the right size for a proper sports sedan.

I've looked at S3s many times. Such a steal for a pre-owned and cheap and easy to make them even faster...

Yup. Golf R and S3 are basically the same car but the S3 depreciates MUCH faster. Great used car bargain.

They do, it's just in hatchback form with a VW badge on the front. Same engine, same drivetrain, same chassis architecture, more cargo space, cheaper.

There's no denying the Audi interiors are a noticeable step above the Golf R.

My factory warranty is good until March. But I will be getting an after market warranty for another year.

Meh, I tried both, didn't notice a huge difference other than the style. In terms of quality, they are pretty much the same. Definitely a smaller gap than between a Passat and an A4 and certainly not worth the price difference between Golf R and S3.

I don't know what that is but labatt is gross lol.

LOL...you do realize you're inclined to feel that way.
I would be shocked if the S3 didn't "feel" superior...but maybe just because one will have paid more for it.
I think you can tell the difference in accord interior vs acura...

Go try them out and let me know. I really wasn't opposed to spending more for something if it was worth it. I know it sounds biased, and I don't blame you for assuming as such, but I really did a lot of homework before buying that car. Like I said, the difference between a Passat (USA only model) and the A4 (global model) is immense. However, the difference between a Golf (global model) and the A3 (global model) isn't so huge. The major trend is the global models vs the US only models. This is very apparent in almost every brand out there because, apparently, most American's don't really GAF about feel and quality lol.

Is it not just the same as the S3? I thought the Golf R made less power than the RS3.

I think the RS3 could be a really enticing car in a few years when they start coming off leases/traded in on something new and are sold as CPO. They can be tuned to over 500hp with relative ease.

True. Hatchbacks are the best. So fuggin useful. Especially with five doors

Not gonna lie... I'm considering going auto. I sold my Nismo on the weekend, but there truly isn't anything in a 6mt that interests me. I love the ctr but it fails so badly in the looks department, it's enough for me to avoid it.

If I start considering any type of auto tranny, the choices improve drastically. I very well may end up in a golf R with the DSG. I love my manuals but I dunno... It's slim pickings these days and I don't want another old car.

The R has a nice balance of being super functional, looking good, being fun and sporty and being an all around solid car. I probably won't buy anything for about a year at least. It's nice to be payment free and debt free.
