Yup. They sure are, and have been as long as I've been driving.

I've only got 20% in the back windows.

Q: Other than my car's front windshield, can I tint all the other windows on my car?

A: No. The California Vehicle Code prohibits tinting on the front driver's side and passenger side windows.

I've gotten atleast... 4 tickets for tints on my TL and my old accord... but it was NEVER considered a moving violation.. its an, non moving fix it ticket only...

I had tints on ALL my cars when I lived in So. OC from 2000-2003 and I never once was even stopped for it. Mine were all in the 15%-25% range.

Don't know now but maybe they were light enough to not catch attention. I have 7% now so that'd probably catch attention.

I assumed he was talking about a moving violation as opposed to a fix it ticket.

As far as I know it's still a fix-it ticket....not a moving violation.

Ah, gotcha...I've never got a fix-it ticket so I though they were one and the same.

No, it's not a MV, but however some counties have severely jacked up the price of the ticket (heard reports of $200+)

btw, it's TINT, not TINTS

That law has been around and well known since tinting was invented.

Are they now considered moving violations? I think that is what the OP was asking, if the legislature changed the law to no longer consider them "fix-it" tickets.

Oh, I'm not sure, all i know is its illegal to have 70% tint and lower. It shouldn't be a surprise that they "might" have already attached an actual fine to it... we are screwed either way as always, Lol... I don't know why they have to waste their time on putinr more heat on window tint when there are so many other problems in the world.

California should just break off the US and become it's own country already. Either that or hopefully an earthquake causes the earth to swallow it, because they are fucking up driving for everyone else. A lot of states adopt their dumbass laws and regulations making driving a tedious task instead of an enjoyable experience.

yes, because CA is the only state w/ windo tint laws IMO, it's honestly not a bad law; and that comming from someone w/ about 12 fix it tickets under his belt.
