Thank you for maintaining a safe distance...

...because otherwise I would not be here typing this.

I was on my GSX-R for a ride around town just after noon because I hadn't been on the bike in a while and the weather was great.

I was eastbound on a road called Vaughn, waiting to make a left onto Taylor northbound.

As soon as the light changed and the cars in front of me started moving, this Silverado behind me honked at me. I didn't stall or anything; just starting off normally. I guess he was in a hurry.

A mile down Taylor road, I was getting ready to make a right into my neighborhood when the traffic came to a stop at the light up ahead. I stopped then noticed a car stopped behind me. All normal and good...

Next thing I know, the same Silverado PLOWS into the back of the BMW, which then was bumped forward.

The impact was so severe that the rear window was shattered and the side panels were crumpled. The driver was okay, but his wife needed medical assistance.

The reality of what could have happened to me didn't really hit at the time, but it did once I got home. I was really close to getting injured. I sincerely thanked the gentleman for maintaining a safe distance, gave the responding police officers my account of the accident, then was relieved from the scene.

You will notice a grommet directly in front of the BMW. That grommet came off one of the cars, then stopped at the heel of my left foot. That's how close it was.

Thank you God for watching over me and I pray that the lady will be okay.

:thumbsdow to the jackass in the Silverado.

P.S. As I was sitting there waiting, I counted 3 potential accidents because people were rubbernecking and not paying attention. :thumbsdow to bad drivers.

Exactly why I always keep a good distance between myself and the vehicle in front of me, while driving and also when stopped at a light. People are way too impatient these days. Glad you're alright.

people like the one in the silverado should use a skateboard, not a vehicle.

Thank you for posting this thread. I was so mad 3 days ago because it was snowing heavily here in Cleveland in the morning, and so the roads were slippery and very treacherous. This idiot behind me was tailgating me DOWN a slippery hill!!!!!!! I was like, what on earth were you thinking? I almost stopped the car, got out and then went to yell at him to tell him to back off!!! Thank goodness I was sensible enough not to do so, but I just slowed right down just so that if he would be bumping me from the rear, at least it would not be at any higher speed. Finally, I got rid of him when I went through a yellow light and he didn't make it.

Some drivers are total idiots and they really should be banned on the road. I hope that the people in the BMW are OK and that they will sue the pants off of this moron who drove the Silverado!!!

Glad you're allright. This is why I have never gotten a bike. It's not that I'm afraid of what I'll be doing, it's everyone around me.

I almost ran over a dumbass driver on a motorcycle today.

I was coming down the 14...which is a shitty highway to begin with, and it gets really bad for a few miles when its merges into the 5 South.

The idiot was on a ninja 250 in the HOV lane going slow. I was in the number 1 lane about to pass him by going with the speed of traffic...That jackass puts his blinker on at the last minutes, slooooowly crosses OVER the double solid yellows with one single white...and right in front of me about a foot off my bumper.

Glad, you are safe. People are fucknuts no matter what they drive.

The worst part about that is that if he hit you, everyone is going to assume its your fault anyway.

The older I get, the more I think we need to chlorinate the gene pool.

OP: Glad you were driving safe and made it out ok.

Glad you're OK, man. That's a reminder to all of us to a) maintain a safe distance. and b) watch out for bikes. I take care of some people who've had head injuries from bike accidents that weren't their faults......

Damn, sorry to hear this, but I'm glad to hear nothing bad happened to you. Stuff like this is why I don't ride, too many oblivious people on the road.

I always look in the rearview mirrors at stoplights when I'm on the bike.

Glad to hear you are safe.
