S60R owner dropping in to say "hi"

I pulled up to a beautiful 2nd Gen RL the other day and thought for sure I was going to have to give it my all when the light went green.

Didn't happen and left me wondering...."what if?"

Did some Google searches on RL vs. S60R and found quite a few post from the TL guys. I personally have never classed the TL against the S60R, but there are some nice ones out there.

Anyway, now I'm a lurker on Acurazine....good to know what else is out there.

Love the RL. Classy competitor to the S60R.

Here's a pic of mine....I have dynos and all that good stuff if anyone wants the dirt on the S60R specs.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Loving the R. Just turned 12k miles today and oil change #4....5.8 quarts of Mobil 1 always makes my day! :p

No major issues so far... a little electrical issue in the fist 900 miles...just a software update to the ECU.

I'm all over several car forums...ended up here just by luck. Be happy to contribute to the S60R vs. RL topics...with no bias.

Welcome, nice ride.....I ordered an S60R back in 04 but ended up with an M3.

Drove it at the Volvo event back then and later at the dealer.

When it came in the numbers just didn't work out.

Sorry to hear Volvo is ditching the R line.

Well...it is owned by Ford...and Bill just dropped SVT like dead weight. Guess that's life.

Maybe I can still get my Jaguar S-Type R before they dump that!

I looked at some S60R's (used) before buying the FX, including one that was for sale by Evolve (the actual company), Heavily moded, VERY FAST!!! BUT I can tell they've driven the fuck out of it, it's like the car they used to test everything on or something... the leather was worn, every little thing rattled... I passed on it, but at times, I wonder... "what if..." like I said, this thing was FAST!!! It would def. keep up with an M3!!!

but, nah... I love my FX I know it's not even in the same category, but

is your's MT or Auto?

Not offended...the biggest ish-talkers are the S60R MT guys! Shift-envy. :P

Yup...swedespeed, volvospeed, socaleuro, and s60rforums...also on some other forums from cars I've had in the past.

Thanks for all the compliments. Is there an RL photo thread? Much like the Volvos, not many people modify anything on their RLs around here...would love to see some nice setups on that car.

Not many people bought them. Dealers have them sitting on the lots forever. It's pretty easy to find one for up to 10k below sticker.I wasnt particularly impressed w/the performance of them myself. The 4c suspension rides like crap. Lighting in the car is pretty weak too.

Yup...got mine for exactly $10k under sticker. Dealer offered that vs. my wifes Ford Employee discount of $8k..they wouldn't have gotten credit for the unit otherwise.

I personally love the 4c suspension...comfort setting provides nice smooth ride on the freeway...I use Advanced when on any road with turns....granted, it is very stiff, but the car handles great! Did canyon runs with some friends one night and I coulda pushed the G35 ahead of me off the road.

I never use the mid setting "Sport". If I'm not rolling smoothly, i just assume be full on sport setting. The Advanced setting also increases the shift points and limits the downshifting in the GT, and increases the clutch response. The MT's just get the suspension out of it.

what color is your interior?

one reason i like this car so much is that there aren't a lot on the road. and those 5 spoke wheels are hot.

I don't think it will because of the 4c.

I'm running the Evolve lowering springs.
TME and Eibach make a set too.

There are sets for the T5.

I also have 10mm H&R spacers on the rear. They come with longer stud bolts.

I think he is asking if stock R suspension can be swapped on to his GF's T5.

Right...I guess I should have clarified...I thought he was comparing his gf's stance to that of mine...so I was pointing out that I had lowered it.

Both cars should have the same springs and stock stance....the R has the electronically controlled struts with the 4c...the others have a mechanical strut.

Funny I had a S60R fly by me the other day and I absolutely was in awe of the exhaust note on it. I swear it sounded almost F1 like. Very impressive.

Ya...they turn some heads. They come stock with a big ol' suitcase muffler under there...it literally weighs in at about 55 lbs. I cut that out and just straight piped it...that was a little too harsh, so I added an 18" cheese grater after the stock resonater. Mine is quiet enough to pull away easy with the local law enforcement in the next lane and not get a second glance..but when I get into the throttle it scares small children and ricers.

I also added 2 new tips and had them weld them slightly staggered to fit the body line...

I don't have a fly-by clip, but this is what it sounds like from inside the car with the windows down...

exhaust clip - interior

Post some pics of the interior.
I looked at the S60R before I got the 330i. It's sad Volvo won't be making them anymore.

That's one thing I really like about the R. The interior is beautiful. Leather is nice and soft and the gauges look great. All the plastics are very high quality. On mine the stitching is even blue to match all the leather pieces in the car.

Yep, that's the exhaust note that I heard, but it was screaming by me at WOT. Sounds awesome! I have to say it's hard to decide what my favorite exhaust note is now. I used to be in awe of G35s, then I fell in love with my CL-S's after the headers/CAI, but after my S60R encounter and that sound clip...
