So why is your only option a G37? Have you looked at certified pre-owned 335i?

And more info on BMW European delivery http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...y/Default.aspx

I can guarantee you that the G37 is a superior drive to the 328i. It is just gutless in comparison. If you can't get a 335i I would definitely go with a G....

Nope. The E9X drives *much better* than G3X and don't stay hooked to acceleration only. BTW, check the 5-60mph; 6.3 for the G37 and 6.4 for the 328i with almost 100HP less.

E30 M3??? Or another used M3, if you can't afford new. I know this probably ccame up but I'm not reading through this whole thread.

What about the new mercedes E class, do they offer a manual version in that car?

The G37 will flat obliterate a 328i on any road course. Find me a lap time where the 328i kept within 3 seconds of a G37 before you run your mouth. That being said, the 335i is my number one car in this segment with the G coming second and the A5 2.0 a distant third (not enough value for money).

Saintor needs to stop drinking the C&D Kool-Aid. If you put a BMW badge on a turd they'd swear it drove better than any thing else.....

Have you driven the cars you are considering yet?
I tried the 335i and G37 sticks, but prefer the auto trans and wouldn't get either with a stick shift because of the shifter+clutch feel on the 3- and constant shifter vibration on the G.

If one must get a manual transmission car as a daily driver, one should get one that is enjoyable to shift, like that on the TSX or RX-8.

G37 looks like my only option because I prefer to buy new if at all possible.

The TSX doesn't fit my criteria, and neither does the RX-8. Also, another reason for wanting manual is that it saves me around $1k.

Speaking of badges, why do people assume the 328i isnt a good performance car because of its trim number? It handles exactly like a 335i which always gets more praise.

i wont say the 328i is faster than a G37 but the 328i wont really get obliterated on a road course. IMO

Edmunds isnt very biased and heres their comment about it.

The Infiniti's principal competition, therefore, is the BMW 328i, which is more involving to drive and a few steps ahead in interior materials quality, yet considerably less muscular under the hood than the broad-shouldered G. If you can live without the Bimmer's unmatched combination of sporty handling and a comfortable ride, then the 2008 Infiniti G37 should make an excellent addition to your garage -- as either a luxury coupe or a sports car.
Involving to drive > track times.

Guess it all depends what you want out of a car.

I love the G37 btw so in no way am i bashing it. I had a tough time picking between the G37 and 328i at one point.

That's definitely part of it, but the performance on that car is less than desirable.

Those G8 GXP's, in white, w/ a manual, are VERY difficult to locate.

Believe me, I would love this car.

Blow the doors off of 90% of other cars on the street, stock. Plus Track Pack gives you Brembos.... and supposedly it drives even better than the 2005-2009 Mustangs!

The back seat is very cozy anyways.... if you need to take a kid don't worry, they won't go flying anywhere anyways. Its too small back there

By that statement it seems as if you are saying the G37 isn't involving to drive. On the contrary, the G is the most involving to drive of any car in its class save the 3-series. But 228 hp compared to 330 hp makes a difference whether you want to admit it or not. The slight advantage the 328i might have in handling is not enough to offset a 100-hp deficit. Thats why I said the ideal car in this class is the 335i (or ultimately your M3, bastard). But to say the G37 isn't as involving as a 328i is just false....
