Rsx

I'm getting a new car this spring, and I need something under 20k but I also want something fast and nice. My options so far are Jetta GLI (6 spd 15 deg. 6cyl) Sentra spec-v, and Lexus IS. I'd rather stay away from the Lexy b/c you know how expensive those things can get. Just recently I noticed that the RSX could be an option. The question is if I go with the Acura, should I go w/ the standard 2.0 and boost, or just go with the type-s and run low 14's?

Base and type-S are both 2.0 engines, and you will probably not run low 14's with the "s", but low 15's are obtainable. True you can boost the base model, and that is the only way I would ever own one because they are slow stock

I know that stock the type-s can't run low 14's, but I'm sure I can get it down there with no power adder....don't you think?

With bolt on's like intake exhaust, probably not. If you get hondata to reflash the ecu and maybe upgrede the top end of the motor to accpet a 9K redline you might get there. Oh course you would also have to deal with traction problems, which will kill your 1/4 mile time.

You WILL get into the low-14's with a Hondata flash, Hondata IM gasket, good intake. You will not need to touch the head. No need for more agressive cams or higher redline. With the addition of a good header/exhaust combo 13.90's are not far off. The K20 motor is a VERY capable motor and with the right bolt-on's and a little tuning it will surprise you!

A good friend of mine went 14.80 with a bone-stock '03 with about 1,000 miles on the ODO
