rockstar143's 2013 CTS-V SUV Wagon Thread - GM Owner & Cut Springs
#642
Going to be completely honest and say that dude is right about lowering it to lose that suv look. But springs? Really? Shit this ride needs some performance bags for a super cush ride and that low low.

Bird is the Word
My car originally comes with a Focus badge on the driver side (was already removed when I purchased the car). People ask me all the time what type of car it is because it looks different than a regular Focus and they can't figure it out. It's a great conversation starter for other people and I know most people wouldn't know the CTS came in a wagon, let alone a V series.

I guess my biggest thing is that I'll do it when I want to, and because I thought it would look better...I'm just not in a big rush to change things on this car...just enjoying every step.
Also, the best way to get me to do something is coerce me.
I know i will debadge eventually, so thanks for the suggestion.
I don't want to lose mag ride though, no lie...it's noticeable how different the car is in touring over sport mode.

and for the record, I have more pictures in my personal file of your rear end than I know what to do with.

I thought I was going to think mag ride was stupid when I got it and want coils right away. I agree it is great to have both modes. I think adding springs which should firm up each mode just a little bit will be perfect and you thanfully decided to give it a test for me.

Fukin A right, I added it to my growing "Jason Invoice" in my paypal account!
Hurry up and get your fkng Mightweifszengboiafoijavmfee exhaust! I need to hear a rumble!
I'm actually considering throwing the QTP on there in teh meantime since I bet I'll want them anyway, but I feel like I should wait and see if i'm content with the Corsa...
aside from rumble I really like the look of the polished mufflers on the black car.

Yes I am going to miss the slant cut double walled tips on the Corsa. I have no idea where it is at It has been 5 months and 10 days since I ordered it. I knew it would be between 2 and 3 month wait but this is getting crazy. If we reach 6 months and 5 days it will have eclipsed the longest part I have ever waited for which was my made to order double sided carbon J's Racing hood for the TSX.

I am the first with a Wagon that I am aware of. There was a sedan and I believe a coupe with it as well but I think those are the only two so far. Neither of them are on the forums anymore though.

I'm curious (mainly bi-)
If you got as far as a test drive, why haven't you pulled the trigger?
Waiting on the perfect combination?
I really wanted not black, and manual and wagon and recaro...
but, you know...at a cost of probably 15-25K more...
I'd rather keep my S2000 and still get my wagon fix.
Imagine if I'd settled on a 3.6

i posted about it somewhere on here, and i was in contact with Bob when i went to look at it. it was a true unicorn (TG, 6spd, with no sunroof and recaros) the car drove nice, was still under warranty but was out of my price range... because it was a unicorn, the dealers phone was ringing off the hook for it... i was looking for a deal, but the dealer wasn't willing to move a penny off the price or try to help me with a higher value on my trade... so i walked...
even though i was local and was willing to make a deal that day, i feel like with that much demand on the car, the dealership didn't have to worry about making any type of deal on that car... i'm sure it sold for asking relatively quickly... then again i never followed up...
in hindsight i don't regret it... i prefer the sunroof and being as how it would have replaced one of my DDs, my wife would have preferred the auto since we occasionally switch cars... in the morning, whoever leaves the house first takes the car in the driveway closest to the street... i taught her to drove MT on my spyder but the V is a whole different animal to manage... and i think for her, she wouldn't bear it as much as i would in traffic or the wet/snowy weather we have here in NJ...
i'm a finance guy and it would take a lot for me to pay over asking for anything... and i'm so i'm cheap as well ... but in all seriousness i've always been patient with every car i have purchased and when the right deal comes along i pull the trigger and it lets me sleep at night...

Wow, incredibly sexy, man...Thunder Gray...and 6MT
I appreciate the explanation Kam...
sounds like you and I have similar outlooks on finances, except I'm not Asian. Basically, I only YOLO when it makes financial sense.
I have to say, I have seen 2 Vagons in South Florida...and maybe 7 or 8 Sedans and a handful of coupes...it's a special vehicle, for sure. I watched the costs increase by about 3-5K across the board over the last 6 months while volume for sale was cut in half, I don't know if it's because the V3 ended up being out of people's price range so they get what they can afford...but the supply and demand graph is hard at work here and I'm not going to be shocked if prices stand firm or increase a bit more over the next year as we get further from the cutoff of when Wagons were produced. The people buying them love them, and hang onto them.
I still have to kinda pinch myself to believe it's mine. I have a hard time spending big money and having a car payment so I keep thinking, should I sell it and be reasonable and just keep the Acura...but my wife is like, uh...you'll want to kill yourself if you do that now. I already went on the mission of shipping, and insuring and paying taxes...I might as well enjoy the damn thing.

LOL...and leave myself with NO 6MT!?!
I would have considered it if I had gotten the Wagon in Manual...but I'd been toying with the idea of an auto daily for a long time...and if your'e gonna auto, you might as well do it with something fast!

Thanks for the recommendation ebelp...
combined with the blendmount from Junior'sBean...this makes the Valentine one install absolutely fucking perfect.
Last piece of the puzzle will be if the Covercraft sunshade clears it without removal which would be amazing.
A big thanks to ThoiBoys too for showing me how to deprogram some bands of radar that were all false alarms in Florida and made me want to chuck the thing out the window.
No lie, 90% of the time the volume was muted because I'd automatically turn it down and obviously the damn thing wasn't very effective when I couldn't hear it.

good luck with the covercraft! i tried a blendmount on my TL for a bit and the covercraft wouldn't clear the detector. ended up the TL mirror was too loose anyway and didn't work well with the blendmount so i scratched the blendmount idea anyway and got my money back. now running a brand new max 360 next to the rear view mirror and i love it (was running a beltronics pro500 up there the last 3 years and just switched them out).
let us know how the covercraft works!! i don't see why people don't make that one of their first purchases haha

Effective use of tools for the win! I'm shocked I didn't say something about it earlier in person on the ride back from airport. Could it be that it didn't actually false at all

Ahh for sue. I think I had an extremely similar comment I shared with someone who bought a Vette and I agree that mag ride is no joke. I would not go without that either. I guess Id contact some bag shops to see if they have any ideas for me. I think bags may be nice compared but I wouldnt go coils if it had to replace the quality suspension you have OE.

Well, I appreciate the advice, I'm hoping it works...I was having to remove the detector from the visor mount to put the shade up...so I was really hoping it would clear...it's pretty far forward and tight to the mirror so here's to hoping.
Covercraft should arrive today or tomorrow.
Dude, it annoyed me so badly it either was off, muted, or in the S2000 instead.
We're getting there...
Just for you...I know it's not outside the car, but my wife wouldn't have been pleased and I don't have any friends. :'(

Bags wouldn't be horrible, for sure...but I've always been too cheap to consider them, unfortunately.
So the happy medium is to just get a nice little stance with 1.5" springs...that supposedly ride fantastically and keep the mag.
I also feel my taste in cars is changing...now when I see a slammed car I'm like, cool but not thanks...whereas back in the day I used to see it and think I wish my car was that low.

It's all gucci, y'all...
Thanks Derek
I did good?
One thing about 4400 pounds is it is fairly easy to control in comparison to the S2000...I mean, it's still over 2 tons of steel going out of control but the weight gives you a little more time to correct.
Also, I'd been struggling with getting comfortable with my seating position...I wasn't sure if it was the seat, or my back, or my butt...I think I just realized it though...the car has a super high floor...and super low roof...which is probably part of the reason why it's sexy. Well, I am so used to always setting my seat down as far as possible...which angles the back of the seat back...which isn't super comfortable. I raised it up to where my head almost hits the roof and it's so much easier to get in and out of and angles my legs much better, knee angle is better to it's not hitting the center stack.
I fall more and more in love with this thing...
Thanks Derek
