The Quickest Cars of 2007: $25,000 to $30,000.
Interesting;
Source: CAR & DRIVER
or all the coolness of a car that goes 180 mph, that has about as much relevance to the average driver in this country as a 180-foot yacht. Accelerating from a start, on the other hand, is sort of legal in every state in the U.S., barring law-enforcement officers with an inflated sense of purpose (don't ask how we know about "Unsafe Start" statutes).
Below are the 10 quickest vehicles available with a base price between $25K and $30K, ranked in order of 0-to-60-mph time. Ties were settled first by quarter-mile time, then by which was quicker to the highest speed both cars achieved (usually 120 or 130 mph), in that order. Most cars at this price point offer basic luxury or at least decent amenities and looks in addition to speed, as buck-banger boy-racer models are thousands less, maybe having something to do with the fact that burger-flipper wages haven't budged in nine years.
There's an arms race among auto manufacturers, with weapons of displacement, compression, and boost being waged segment- and industry-wide. It's no surprise that most entries in this list are not cut from traditional sports-car cloth; of the 10 vehicles here, one is an SUV and six have four or more doors.

We are not alone is singing the praises of the VQ35DE all-aluminum V-6 engine
The performance figures they used are exactly the same as their 06 test results. The 07 model should be faster with ~15 more HP and ~15 more torque than the 06 model (due to the new SAE ratings on the HR). Hell, the G35 (a much heavier car) with an automatic with the HR engine runs 0-60 in 5.2-5.4 seconds.

The 07 Z has the new VQ35HR engine (the same one in the new G35).

I like how the nearly every other mazda car not only beats the Rx8 in terms of straight line acceleration. But also gets better gas mileage. Ms3, ms6, cx7 has potential with more boost and would be a cheap upgrade and i think mazda is planning on giving their minivan a turbo motor. HAHA.
Way to bury your flagship sports car, mazda.

that list is total BS like all car magazines. I like how they can't say something nice about subaru without degrading its reliablitly which is completely bs and furthermore has nothing to do with a quick test. i got an idea...hey car and driver don't put diesel fuel in a turbo vehicle that runs on normal fuel when testing it. im so glad subaru doesn't pay those asshats lots of $$$$.
and how the hell do you put the same car on the list twice? wtf is that about???

I'll be another one to say that I am very surprised with the 350Z being in 6th, esp. if they claim it to be the 07 w/ the new engine and other upgrades. Does anyone else think that they really didn't test the '07 Z, but used the '06 numbers?

Her model tests out at 5.3 to 60 with only 210hp (this test can be found on C&D as well.) I think that is right on the hp. Anyhow for years we have be having fun with those that pull up and laugh at the hood scoop on her little station wagon-all wheel drive-SUV. They make the mistake of thinking its a "for-show" hood scoop. She has been beaten (by a car lenght or so by a new Mustang V-8). But I doubt that guys do too much bragging about their 300hp V-8 sports car barely beating a chick in a 4 cylinder station wagon.

so the forester XT is faster than their wrx? in my opinion, the wrx is what gave MASSIVE credibility to subie, and now their suv owns on it...sans sti.
