Yup, if I buy new type-s top hats for around $200, I might as well just buy the flex which are available now. If I go with the SA, I'd most likely reuse the top hats and use the money saved for something like the progress rsb (as if it wasn't on the list anyway...)

Well. I just sent payment for the FLEX. I decided fk it, latest and greatest it is. No expense spared

This weekend was awesome. I got my bumper back from paint really quick (2-3 days). I'm really happy with the results. The paint match is awesome and the A-SPEC front lip went on without any hassles.

Again, just like the last one, I had them plug the license plate bracket holes because who needs them and I opted to keep the stock type-S honeycomb fog light grills behind the lip. I like the look a lot and it was really easy to just trim them up to fit.

During the process I also decided to do a quick polish on the headlights with 1k, 2k, and 3k sandpaper. Then a quick buff with Meguiars plastix and Meguiars UV protectant and they look awesome. I know this isn't a permanent fix but they look great for now until if/when I mod them up. Eventually once all my bigger impact mods are done I'll move to lighting and get HIDS/LEDs for the fogs, switchbacks or something, and some new headlight bulbs.

Here is the old bumper. It wasn't too bad, just had some shitty spray paint work on the side and some scratches and stuff. A repaint probably would've been fine, but it had some broken tabs too so I wasn't about to mount a brand new a-spec lip to that.

Here is the old bumper, new bumper, lip still wrapped, and all the pieces that went onto the new bumper. Foglights not pictured but they made it through the swap also.

Looks great! If you don't mind me asking, ask much was it for the front bumper repaint? I plan on getting mine re painted soon and I think I'm going to get the plugs filled as well like you did.

Looks like we had the same weekend! I also installed a brand new bumper and did the ASPEC upgrade. How much of a PITA was it to transfer over all the trim? some of those clips were real tedious.

This looks fantastic. KBP is such a nice color, and the headlight clean-up just adds to that nice, brand-new look.

Thanks everyone, I'm in love with it. I just cant stop staring at the front end. Forgot to mention I'm also about to place my order for the Progress RSB and MOOG endlinks. I'm done with OEM.

Well, usually a bumper repaint can be anywhere from $200-500 depending on where you go and the amount of work involved/quality etc. But I'm sure you've heard that figure before haha. The body shop I work with is really awesome and Ive known them for years, since they had a shop with only 3 bays for working on cars and a small paintbooth. Now they have a huge booth and a warehouse that fits like 20 cars at the same time. He hooks me up for $250, even if the bumper needs a little repairs. This one was brand new but he did plug the holes for me and everything. Normally, if its just a bumper or single body part that needs paint I remove it from the car, strip it of the other parts, and have him just paint. That saves him labor time and me money! This way he focuses on whats most important to me-the quality and finish of the paint match. And I do the bs work of installing and stuff

Haha, it really wasn't too bad at all. I've done it a number of times so it wasnt too bad. It helps a lot to know where the screws and clips are to begin with haha. I also replaced every single one of those original "bitch clips" with new ones, which was not only amazing for my OCD, but also nice cause I didn't have to worry about breaking the old ones during removal.

I'm super excited! In the end, the fact that they were available now, come with top hats, and are apparently the latest and greatest is what made me decide to try them out!

Nice progress on the TL Type S "Q". It seems like I've seen these mods on your previous cars and hopefully you keep this one.

Thanks man! I always liked my SA, never really had an issue with them. On both cars that I had them on though, they felt pretty firm. I had them set to 10 clicks from full firm which many people here recommended, but I found it a little firmer than I'd like. I went to 12 clicks, and that felt too floaty over bumps. I blamed it on my ride height and chose to go with 10 clicks and have it be a little on the firm side. This was part of the reason why I chose to try out the Flex, maybe I can get somewhere in the best of both worlds!

setting the right preload is key to getting the right feeling out of the coilover. here's a helpful article by marcus at heeltoe:

https://www.heeltoeauto.com/tech-art...e-street..html

most people that have a harsh ride on a preload-adjustable coilover probably didn't dial in the preload right. it takes more fine tuning to get it right but the benefits should be noticeable. just be patient and continue to adjust!

Car is coming along nicely! How long do you have to wait to install the Type S A spec lip on the fresh painted bumper? I'm getting my front bumper painted soon and adding the Type S lip.

Suspension came in last night! I picked up Moog Endlinks and my Progress RSB should also be here this week. If all goes well, maybe install this weekend!

Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to read it over a couple times when I do my install. It all makes sense tho!

Thanks! Well the bumper was painted on Thursday in the booth, so by the time I had got it I'm sure it was pretty well cured on Saturday. The only thing I would be careful of is drilling the holes for the Aspec lip. Sometimes the paint can peel from the drill if that makes sense. What I did was use a very small drill bit from the back of the bumper where the holes are marked, and then switched to a nice sharp spade bit and drilled through from the painted side. This gave me really nice, clean holes with no paint peeling Luckily didn't run into any issues!

Snapped this pic coming out of work. It's dirty and still needs a good detail on the paint. But damn I love this car.

For some reason I am not liking the RHO plate mount as much on this car. That will need to be addressed.

Didn't get a whole lot of work done this weekend, weather wasn't so great, worked Saturday, etc.

Planning on gathering up a few more parts this week and maybe do some work this weekend

My brakes and rotors are fine, but I'm debating on picking up the centric rotors and new pads all the way around. I also wanted to paint the calipers at some point, so it may be a good time this weekend/during suspension install. Maybe I'm overthinking

No...overthinking is smart. It allows you to accomplish the most stuff while the car is up in the air and wheels are off.

I swapped out the rear camber arms to oem this weekend...i don't recommend going with ingalls for the kit. even on the higher end kit, the bushings do not stand up to torment...just like the ebay shit i had before.

spc upper rear if you feel inclined to correct camber.

hey J what kind of issues did you have specifically in terms of driving feel or was it the camber/toe just going out of spec? i'm asking because i've had the ingalls one for about 4 years with no issues but i'm just wondering if maybe i could improve my handling/feel by switching to spc or maybe i'm just not noticing because i don't know the difference?

i've never had my camber nor toe go out of spec and i get it aligned every year if not every 6 months.

Yes, I've heard some of the same things about the ingalls kits. The bushings don't seem to last very long, so I've always been told the SPC top arms were better to get if you have the choice.

Until this point I've never cared too much about correcting camber; Heeltoe even admits its unnecessary for most people, but I may give it a shot regardless this time around. Something about replacing parts is so therapeutic for me, even if I don't necessarily "need" them

At the height I'm at now...I confirmed I'm basicall -2.5 without correcting...I'd purely be correcting to make the wheels flush(er) in the rear.

The feeling is taking a long sweeping S curve near my home...it felt very shaky and unstable in comparison...swapped to the oem arms and holy hell, I can take it at like 65 mph now (don't quote me but it's VERY noticeable how well it firmly grips and rests on that rear outer tire). Last time I was dealing with shitty ebay ones so the bushings were even worse and almost pushed all the way out after a year...that was downright scary on turns...rear would wiggle and kinda track where it wanted.

I'm convinced go with the upper arm, or nothing.

I let them go for a grand, I felt it was fair for me and the buyer since reps go for $800 on ebay. I didn't feel like trying to hold out for more. They sold on CL, so it was a local and easy sale.

thanks for the info man. i'll have to think about it and see what i want to do. lot of money (and time) to switch out the parts to oem down below and spc up above. how do shops adjust the camber with this top arm? is it pretty easy compared to the ingalls or harder?
