I am really good at helping people do that. Just trying to help you enjoy the car to its fullest.
It can but honestly I think you want to find a ported 90mm. Doesn't have to be Mamo ported but that doesn't hurt. They are around $300-350 used.

The other throttle body option is the Nick Williams 102mm. From what I have read online there doesn't seem to be any gains from it till after 700hp. Plus there is the fact that throttle body is $650+ and you can get a brand new 90mm that has better throttle response for $400 from Tony Mamo or find a used Mamo on the forum usually for around $350.
My tuner was trying to push me to do the 102mm but to run that you also need to get the snout ported. Another issue is you can't run the 102mm with stock supercharger pulley as they will touch. So again you will have to spend more money.

I was going to make the joke about porting your own intake with sand, but then it got better because it came from a Cuck Forum to begin with!

Hey guys, I've got a 98 1.8T. I've had a k04 and chip for a while and wanted to get more performance. I was recommended to port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand. So I got with my friend that tunes Hondas and we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the car. We had to hold the gas so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the ehxaust so it would port the exhaust manifold.
I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it'd be OK as long as we didn't make boost and it get sucked in the turbo. After running the car and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the car back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn't idle and kept making weird noises. We took it out and drove it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises.
Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Hondas so he doesn't know much about Audis.

J.. I've decided.. def going ported LS7 TB.
I'll be in the hunt.. We can get one for about 150 straight up.
Will look for a cheap ported one or just do it myself.

Ok they have gains but not gains that make me think it is worth paying $600+ for and $250-300 more than the 90mm LS7. Your not going for power with this as much as driving feel.

Well.. if you just want the throttle response.. an LS7 non-ported TB should still do the trick.
You can get it on prime for about 150.

I've actually read some guys say that porting and polishing the LS7 TB didn't do shit in terms of gains.
Shit.. I'm in J. I mean.. when you port it, you're just matching and maximizing the flow and evening out any irregularities to make it extra laminar.

I'm going to see how it matches to the supercharger manifold.. if it's close enough, I'm going to leave it alone.
I'd go dremel fa sho tho..

Dang if you can get it for $113 you could send to Tony Mamo and just wait and have him do the work and it would be much cheaper than getting a one that is already done and instock. I only went with one that was already done cause of the rebuild.
#479
Yeah, I might go that route eventually.
Thanks for the tip.
Brown got some love today...no more clicky clicky...
I was going to tune up too but didn't receive the coil packs yet so I'd rather do it all at once.
ready for German
