Cool POLL: More mods vs buying an MDX?

Cast your vote: do the rest of the mods I had in mind for my Type-S this summer or get the wife a super clean, fully loaded 06 black MDX that even I fell in love with She would be upgrading from a Civic. Mods or MDX?

Thanks. I wanna put a good sum down & I had a Jpipe, HFC, UR pulley, intake & some other things in mind but we ran across this deal so I might just put those on hold for a bit. That was our first time inside an MDX, first time driving it...they are pretty sweet!

MDX fa sho. Are you down with the maintenance of a black SUV? Must be hard in Chitown. MDX interior is pretty nice.

You're talking keeping keeping a black car clean in the loooooong Chicago winters or mechanical maintenance? My Type-S is black so yeah I know the hassle of that, sucks but looks amazing when its clean.

Used SUVs can be a hastle, especially high mileage ones. If they didn't change their differential fluids prepare to buy a new one in the future. I'm not sure if the '06 MDX had transmission issues, but I do know that the '04 and '03 did you might want to check up on that.

I'm gonna ask them that before signing but do you think they'll know being that it's at a Toyota dealer? I saw the manual in the glove bpx & shoulda glanced to see if the maintenance records were filled in. It drove amazingly smooth & the shifts were silky...not to mention the rest was super clean. It's in high end town so I'm hoping someone that had the time & money to keep up with everything traded it in.

get the mdx and change all of the fluids out of it and put some good quality stuff back in. anytime we in our family gets a used car we go completely through them changing out all of the fluids and sometimes the brakes. so we know whats it in it and how long.

Lol! I know man, thats why I wanna upgrade her...but keep in mind she only drives 3 days per week & I practically live in my car since I'm a realtor & we use mine on weekends. She got the Civic when we were dating & I gave her $2k to put down which she paid back in ways that can be discussed here LOL

for the honda ATF your looking at $5-7 a quart but you will only be changing maybe 3 quarts out of the tranny. as far as the differential i would say any differential lube would work, but i prefer royal purple in that case.

some atf for 5.34

When creating a new topic... scroll down a bit. Under the Additional Options section there is a poll section. Simply click "Yes, create a poll" and it will give you the options to do so.

Then hit submit and bam.... new topic with a poll

^ guess I didnt make my wife happy, the one we were looking at sold. We were both a bit hesitant since it had 80k on it but we're still looking. She was ok about it but the ones we like are hard to find! Black preferrably with nav & tan leather.

Are there two colors for "white" on the 2nd gen MDX? I know there's definitely a pearl but I feel I have seen regular white as well.

Damn, too bad. I would be hard pressed not to get the MDX. 2 sweet cars to switch between in the stable, even at the cost of a little less oomph out of the TL.

Plus, the wifey will be happy. That's always a win/win situation

01-06 is a 1G MDX

there was a refresh in 04. the one you were looking at was not a 2G

07-10 is the 2G MDX, it has SH-AWD and a bigger engine

they put the shitty grille and a 6 speed auto on the '10

hope this clears things up
