Poll: How many people here still have car payments?

I'm just curious. Any of you guys remember life before a car payment? I made a mistake of doing a 39 month lease before I decided to finance and pay off the car so I don't have to worry about making a payment every month on something that just goes down in value...

Well technically I still have some time left but I'm hoping to pay my 3 yr loan off in a year's time.

Of course this is only taking into account one car...so some of you may have payments on one car but have another one paid off so the value of your new car doesn't drop too much due to high mileage.

2003 PT Cruiser GT

Paid off 2 years ago with a personal loan. Paid off the personal loan at the beginning of the year.

Gonna help pay off the Yaris, though.

Id like to never have a car with a payment again, but thats kind of difficult if you want a more expensive car. You actually have to work and save up for it. I heard European Delivery is hard to finance because the bank doesnt get the title for months, so it may turn out that Ill buy my next car in cash.

Last car payment I had was for my 97 CL. With note & insurance, it was $400/mo. My current car and the car before it were paid cash, no car note since 2003. That's how I will always try to keep it, I hate car payments

Still making payments

I've been irresponsible and buying mods but I'm still on top of my payments if that makes sense. Payments + full coverage insurance is $290/mo

Yup, still have a payment, but I'm making extra payments. As soon as the credit card is paid off I'm paying $1,000 a month until the loan is satisfied. Got the car 11/06, so I hope by this time next year it will be done. Then after that, no new cars until I own a house.

Haven't made a payment since mid 2003...

And I've been putting away the money I would have spent on car payments in a "next car" fund... Did the same thing with the last car when I paid it off which allowed me to put 1/2 down on the CL...

I paid mine off early too, but the $1800 in interest savings was motivation enough...

I'm in the same boat.

Paid off my wife's 2003 Honda Civic and my 2004 Honda Accord last December (Civic 6 months early and Accord 30 months early).

It's nice not having a car payment, and I just might keep to that in buying used cars from now on.

The thing that sucks is that with only one income now, putting away money for the 'next car fund' will be very tough.

Bingo, even though most car loan rates aren't as phenomenal as they were 5 years ago, they are still pretty damn good. It shouldn't be hard to make at least twice what the car loan rate is. I hate paying any interest, but there are times where it is not as bad as it initially looks.

nope.

Sold my CL 3 years ago and bought my used pathy for the very reason of having no note...while needing a cargo carrier.

Fiancees civic has been paid off since i met her.

There is a chance I might take over the payments on her sisters 08 civic ex if she goes to grad school in NYC, but she put a huge down payment on the car. So, the monthly note is very low.

Yes I still have payments on my MS3. 42 month note ($11k down).

I won't be buying new anymore as much as I'd love to have an A5 S-Line.

I hate car payments but I get tired of my cars at about 18 months.

There's nothing wrong with the MS3. I just wish I had something nicer even if it was slower. Considering selling the MS3 and using the $9k after payoff to buy a Civic as my beater and then start saving for a used A5 in a couple years.

I'd love to figure out a way to trade cars every 3-6 months and not lose my ass.

I guess I could if I bought '86 Camrys over and over but that's not what I'm talking about

You mean you paid off your lease early or you decided to buy the car outright from the lease? If you are leasing, there is no benefit to paying it off early. If you total the car, all the money you paid is just gone.

My wife's car was paid off just a couple of weeks ago. Mine should be paid off in a few more months. Then we'll turn around and buy her a new vehicle with higher payments than either of the two cars we currently have

I usually pay cash for the car, but this time I took advantage of the special 0.9 financing. Just made my first payment, 47 months to go. The rest of the money is in an online savings bank earning interest.

That sucks big time. Its like that commerical where the guy goes "this is the final payment" and his wife goes "when you pay that something is going to go wrong." He pays online with his phone and then the mirror falls off.

Anyway I have never had a car payment and its awesome.

1 title in hand.
1 payment.

Shortly after I pay a car off, I get the itch for something new. My problem is I never seem to be able to give up the old car, but with a 100 mile round trip commute, I'm psyched to be putting all those miles on the beater.
