If a handful of people can be seen playing bumper car, why does the next person think they can make it down safely?

Okay, I've gotta mention this now - I've driven in a lot of different cities across the country. But, I lived in Utah for a year when I was doing my Master's degree and I can say this without hesitation - the most brain-dead drivers (on average) in the country drive the highways and byways of the state of Utah. I cannot even begin to describe how bad it is there...and that's when the weather is good.

My favorite part of the 2nd vid is around 4:35, after two tracking shots of the car pileup the camera pans up to a crowd of folks on their cell phones.

On phone with insurance company: "Yeah, you know what? Just send everyone you've got to 35th & Franklin"

If it snows enought to matter it scares the shit out of me to get out the road, the drivers are idiots. I just stay home; too dangerous.

 

Totally off-topic, but would a set of snow tires on a AWD car help in that type of road condition?

I've lived in Socal for all my life, so I don't know how that really feels.

 

Notice how the ones out of control are on their brakes. The Accord likely would have been fine if they would let the FWD pull them through. Same with the F250. He was fine until he tried to stop.
