Just getting out of my car... I spot this little gem!

I love old school Celica's. The day right after the Japanese Classic Car Show, which I missed, I got this nice treat.

Coming back from lunch break this dude does a flyby.... quite slow :P

Vettes are just too common for me. They are great looking cars and really good bang for your buck, but meh. I feel like they are only for retired folks trying to relive their youth.

Couldnt have said it better myself.

And honestly, if I were going to drop $60k+ on a car, Id buy an Elise and mod the shit out of it or pick up an NSX. I dont care if its slower, its got more character, and Im probably in the minority, but I prefer to rev the piss out of my engine.

saw this badass in traffic on the highway near the George Washington Bridge. i thought he was gonna jump out.

Location: I-80 Eastbound, Bumblefuck, PA.

ok so those last two were slightly outside the drivers seat. but the fact that i was able to get out and walk around on the highway is ridiculous. 9 mile traffic jam for "phantom" construction. it was sunday evening and workers had forgotten to move the cones off of the road the previous night. blocked off one of two lanes for no reason

Well FWIW the Z06 has a 7000 rpm redline which IMO is pretty high for what it is. I love Elises and NSXs as much as you probably do, but IMO the performance is too good to ignore. I guess it's just an opinion thing.

BUT if said NSX was boosted... with a proper exhaust...

IMO they're not as eye-catching as they are in photos. But I think its concept was the first application of the "shield" aka beak grille, so it works best in this application.

I've seen 1 ZDX in person. I must admit, in pictures online it doesn't look too desirable at all, but there must be some kind of illusion to it because in person, I gotta admit it looks pretty decent, and also growing on me (maybe it also depends on the color... gray and black probably look better in it). It is luxurious yet still off-roady.

i also gotta admit the ZDX is growing on me. a couple months ago i was driving next to a black ZDX with umber interior in Brentwood, NY (which was strange because if anyone here knows the place, its ghetto as shit). it had real presence and looked really ominous. it was huge compared to my 2G TL.

It comes down to character for me. And I couldn't care less if the car can hit 300mph and give me a blow job at the same time.

And the exterior of the ZDX is growing on me as well. Its the interior that puts me off. I sat in one awhile ago and, while Im not a tall person at 6', I found it very difficult to get in and out. The backseat was nearly impossible to get into, and once I was there I had an even harder time getting out.

I do like the cooled seats though.

I would love, love an Elise, but it's in quite a lower price bracket and sorry, it's just not as easy to live with on a daily basis. I like my cars like I like my women - she needs to be a lady in the streets, and a freak in the sheets.... er, twisties

To me, the way a car sounds is also just as important as its looks, performance, or character. Who wouldn't want a car that gets their pants tight, makes vaginas wet and strikes fear in the hearts of children? Even in stock form, the NSX makes a lovely sound, but it can't beat the ground-shuddering rumble and the Earth moving torque of the LS7.

If it matters, the LS7 was reported to be tested to go all the way up to 8000 RPM in stock form - keep in mind it's a pushrod engine - but it didn't make power at that RPM because there wasn't enough cam and the the manifold couldn't flow enough air at that engine speed.

The Z06 also has the road presence, wide and low. The NSX is timeless and the Elise still looks great - but rarely do they make me just stop in my tracks like a stock-form Z06 does in person. It's not often that I lay my eyes on a car and I can feel my pupils dilate.

But that's just me I know there are people that wouldn't take a Z06 even if it was free.... but I'd get arrested just to have one.

Very well said Daniel, it's rare to see someone who loves these cars as much as I do...but I think you love them even better. You should apply to work in Chevy's performance division!

Different strokes for different folks.

I personally dont mind having two cars, one comfortable daily and one uber-balls to the wall handling machine. A fews cars that Id take over ANY Vette (seriously, I just dont like them that much):

- NSX
- Elise/Exige
- Catterham
- Atom

Only one of those cars would be considered by most as a daily - the NSX, even though Id have no regrets driving an Elise or Catterham as a daily. And I think thats where I differ from you guys. Im not looking for a car thats a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Maybe in 20 or 30 years the Vette may do something for me, but for now I have absolutely no desire to own one.
