I have a sad recent WS6 story. In June one of my car group friends did their Annual trip to Byron Dragway for drag racing trip, and this year we had a new twist, we had full on escort from the Chicago Police - two motorcycles and 3 Explorers.
They escorted our group of like 20 cars from Chicago suburbs all the way to Byron, like a 90 minute drive. It was fkin sweet! Some of us thought that aspect was even more fun than the drag racing itself, since it was new, and we had raced countless times before.
Anyways, here's a video of us pulling into the first gas station. At this stop the bike cop was telling us about how he JUST bought a WS6 (forgot the year) and it was in mint condition, and his dad was driving it to the track and they were gonna take it down the strip. I mean he just got it. And it's Father's Day weekend, you can imagine the emotions. Anyways long story short, his dad takes it out for the first time on the strip, and he lost the rear somehow the car came around in a 180 and he hit the wall real unfortunate turn of events. Thankfully he was OK, but the car not so much. The rear quarter was dunzo and who knows what else - had to flatbed off.
Mileage? Service records? Number of owners? And I'd run a Durametric on it to check for over-revs if it is a manual. Same with a paint thickness gauge.

I wonder if being so rare and now valuable, it detracts a little from the driving experience. Maybe a RS 3.8 gets you 95% or more of the experience with a lower level of stress and guilt?
Welp, today i got to hit that event i missed last year. And what a sight it was to behold in person. Hard to fathom a ~$25m car just sitting there like that. It is nothing short of stunning.

Color looks cool but the yellow stuff is totally unnecessary. Makes the car look too F&F cheap. Just some yellow calipers would have been just fine, leave the rest black.
Nice on the old S4 based on the Audi 100. That almost was my first car, my parents were originally going to buy it from the owner where they worked, but he got in an accident and totaled it. Airbag didn’t deploy, he was pretty banged up so that’s not good.

The brand didn’t have the weight of Mercedes or BMW while costing more than Honda and Toyota, also you’re spot on with that “investigative reporting” episode where they manufactured an unintended acceleration event. Even after they said they altered the car to cause the event Audi took decades to recover.
i like boxy things, so the Audi 90 from that era looks super sharp to me, my parents test drove one when I was a kid, it was a winter day, perfect conditions for it, I absolutely loved it, but sales guy wouldn’t take 1/2 the asking price, so no deal.
I have to admit, I didn’t really care for these back in the day, I thought the e36 and e39 were prettier cars. But I see this thing pretty often and I’m starting to like it. I still can’t get over the gauges in the center though.

When he passed away a year ago, my wife and I would have bought the car from her stepmother but since it was an automatic we decided to pass and keep the TLS we have. It was immaculate condition, always garaged and spent its whole life in Florida.
I really want to do the European delivery at some point in my life.

When I picked it up in Munich the delivery consultant told me I was the first American he'd ever delivered a car to with a manual transmission. I told him my wife and I were epic failures; we'd never learned how to drive a car with an automatic; he was still laughing when we drove out of the building.
I’m going through my phone and finding random pics, here is one I took with my friends 4C and his friends Exige (4C owner also has an Exige). Then me in the middle, I apparently didn’t get the memo that white is the color.

Sounds like a great spec. Only would be better if it had been a wagon.
