Paintless Dent Removal

Opinions?

My wife's car got a nasty ding and the front quarter panel this past week. The paint is intact.

I think I once read somewhere (probably here) about body rust after such repairs. Any thoughts?

never heard of rust problems afterwards, don't see how that would come about.

I thought someone once posted that they remove a lot of hardware to get at the underside of the ding and can leave an area of metal bare that wasn't before.

I havent had problems with this. For me, what they did was get inside of the ding and push it out. Paint was intact from the beginning. Post a pic of the ding.

Do they need to take apart your car to get at the ding? This is my (probably unfound) concern -- that the quarter panel (or door, or what have you) is taken apart, and after the ding is fixed, put back together again.

I'll try to post a pic, but I doubt I'll have time with my wife and my work schedule being somewhat different.

I guess the backside that they rub on to push the dent out could theoretically get scratched, but I've never seen or even heard of that before, and I've had PDR done on my cars for 8+ years now.

Front quarter panel dings shouldn't be a problem. They should be able to it either from under the hood, underneath, or by peeling the wheel well lining lining back.

yea, and even by then if it for some reason did scratch and start to rust, it wouldn't cause any problems. or atleast not in the time you own the car.

That's what I was thinking but when I peak in the engine bay (this is high on the panel) I can see the side panel metal is double layered.

Anyhow, it does sound like my concerns are unfounded. As soon as we have time, I'll get the thing fixed.

paintless dent removal is good stuff..

my previous car... the guy came right to my work and took care of it in about an hour..

took the tail light out.. drilled a small hole.. fished a long bar with a 90 degree bend, put some big yellow cone next to my car to reflect the light onto the paint... put some silicone on a plug and stuffed the hole.. put the light back on and did not even charge me...

he was a talker.. i guess payment listening to him ramble was enough...
