I had to google what the Varadero is. Pretty cool. How long did they produce it?

And that motor is pretty torque-y. My brother has no problem lifting the wheel in third, stock gearing too. Do you have any issues with the CCTs?

From the Wiki picture it looks like it has the side radiators just like the VTR1000.

Having only had the bike for less than a week, I'm probably not qualified to say this......but.....DO IT! In 2009 they made everything fuel injected, but kept almost everything looking like the older standard carb bikes. Depending on what you like, you have some great options.

What are you riding? Love the bikes, don't see too many of them around here though, even with the Minnesota connection. Guess we still like our snowmobiles too much.

Well the problem is that I have an Aprilia... so not sure the wife will let me have two newer motorcycles in the stable. Maybe I'll wait a bit and pick up a 2009/2010 pre-owned

Anyway, enjoy it!!

I really like the Street/Speed Triple (depending on how many CC's I want), but already having a European naked, it doesn't make sense which is why I started focusing on the Bonny. Was at a big bike meet last night and saw a few of those plus a few Ducati Sport Classic's. Very sweet

i would do it, it's going to be my next bike. but if you have never ridden before then i say don't get it and get something older with less power.

the 675 is really powerful for a bike it's size IMO.

Yes it is. It would be my second bike. I have an 88 NT650. The 675 is about twice as powerful but Im confident that I can use my head and not put myself into a bad situation. Most of my riding is highway at the moment though.

I found an 07 north of me for $5899, same miles but it had the gel seat and it was grey. Im torn.

Can anyone recommend a pair of leather pants similar to the Icon Automag? The smallest size they make it in is 32 which is too big for me.

Well, I don't wear leathers myself... but if you're interested in an overpant:

I paid ~$125 with shipping... willing to let them go for $99 plus shipping to your location. If you' or anyone you know may be interested, let me know.

The last few months (I don't ride too often) my bike has been making a clunking sound when going over bumps. I looked all around and couldn't figure out what it was. It was right under my seat, almost like the battery was loose.

Today I hauled the bike out, gave it a solid wash, and went for a short ride. After a short while, on one road, the bike started to feel "loose", like there were grooves in the pavement. It freaked me out, I though maybe the wheels were going to fall off, so I turned around and went home.

I checked all the obvious bolts and nothing seemed loose at all, then I checked a couple of allen bolts on one of the braces. Loose! Like 3/4 to a full turn loose. The position is pretty much spot on to where I heard the noise coming from, so I hope that solves it. There's a storm rolling in now, so the bikes put away again.

Don't forget to check your bolts every once in a while!

Check bolts... CHECK!

Well, I went for an hour ride today.

It was bound to happen sooner or later, and I freaked out because I was no where near home and had no idea what was happening... Suddenly I lost about 90% of the power, 1st gear, 2nd gear didn't matter... I was sweating hard. Pulled into a parking lot and parked it. I start walking around the bike checking the drive train, looking for leaks, etc...

Yup.

I ran outta gas.

I opened the tank and looked in and could see some fuel in there, and since it was on the side stand and the petcock is on the left, I felt relieved.

I switched over to reserve (so THATS why reserve is there... ) and cruised to the nearest gas station.

I had only filed the tank halfway last time, and I forgot, so looking at the trip meter didn't make me think I would run out...

Like I said, it was bound to happen eventually!

Soon when you feel the motor sputtering, you'll just reach down and flip to reserve and keep going. Also make a mental note of your trip odometer when you hit reserve. You do reset your trip odo at fillup? Mine hits reserve at ~100 miles, but I always seem to have at least a gallon left. Some day I'm going to strap a gas can on the back and see just how far a full tank goes.

Glad you're OK Jefford. I'm glad it didn't happen while traveling down one of those crazy Scottsdale highways.

Thanks.

It never sputtered or anything. Was at a red light, turned green and I was suddenly on a moped that was missing a cylinder!

Now I know what it feels like, though so I should be good.

I do reset the odo each time, but like I said, I had only filled it halfway last time.

I was on my way back from Fountain Hills, Terry. I thought I broke the darn thing!

I think running out of gas has to happen to everyone at least once.

Mine was last October, on the highway. Lost all power, pulled over, the tank was bone dry. The Hawk doesnt have a "true" reserve

Coincidentally, the pump died shortly thereafter.

Thankfully my bike has a low fuel light so I get a ~25 mile warning before I run out of gas. I have run it to the light, but so far, never run it to empty (knocks on wood).

Watch your odometer and be careful, low fuel warning lights can also fail. Many years ago I was riding with a buddy who had a Honda Magma and the low fuel light did not go on and he ran out of gas on the Baltimore Beltway and came to a stop in the far left lane. Somehow he managed to push it it across 4 lanes of rush hour traffic and get to the shoulder. The capacitive tank level sensor failed.

Yeah, I reset my 2nd trip odo every time I fill up so I can keep an eye on the mileage for each tank. I know when I need to fill up... so even if the light fails I keep track using the trip cpu...

I'm not sure I see the problem with that traffic stop. The undercover car had a backup right there the whole time. Something seems like it's missing.

Well the issue stemmed from the video being posted on YouTube.

MD got word of that and confiscated his computers and searched his home on some bs wiretapping charge, which is a felony. They had him jailed for one night on a $15k bail as well.

The guy was definitely speeding and deserved the ticket(s), but a felony charge for posting a video?

I read the ACLU papers on this case and the MD wiretapping law is very loose.

Anyone have a favorite place to buy clothing from? I am looking to buy the Alpinestar boots mentioned a few pages back, and wanted to know if there were any places that had better deals on AS stuff? I found them for 159.95 ( http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...Air-Boots.aspx ) but didn't know if there were any secret places that might have them for less.
