9 + 45 puts the hub at 6.27" from the outer wheel face.

9.5 + 45 puts yours at 6.52" from outer wheel face.

Centerline of the tire with respect to the HUB also moves .25.
Well...frankly you're half correct. If offset stays the same, then it doesn't matter what the width of the wheel is, the relative center position of the tire stays the same.

Here's why:

If offset is the distance from the centerline of the wheel, and we keep the offset the same no matter what, then whenever you add or remove width to the wheel it is split between both the outboard (front) and inboard side of the wheel. In your example, the front indeed moves out .25" but the back also moves further in .25" meaning they effectively cancel each other out in regards to the tire. (tire moves both out and in by .25") --means the center of the tire stays in the same spot.

So exaggerating the example for illustration, you could get a 7jj +45 and a 10jj +45, and put a 255 tire on both of them:
Code:
       | C | - 7jj
    | C | - 10jj
If you're viewing this on mobile it may not format correctly (hell, it may not in browser either) but I've kept the spaces consistent across the examples (2 spaces = 1 inch). The point is, no matter how wide you make the wheel, the center is in the same spot which in turn means the offset (incl hub position, since offset also = position of mounting face to hub) is going be in the same spot. The tire bead/tire mounting location moves in or out sure, but does exactly the same thing on the rear.

It makes a great visual if you plug things into a calculator that will create a diagram to show you the differences.

I pick up what you're putting down.

You're right. The tire and wheel would grows or shrink proportionally on both sides with respect to the hub if the width was changed but the offset was the same.

Because the offset moves 45mm from center in either case.

Pffffff diagram.

It's a fucking blast. Plenty of power and cool tech stuff inside, the seats are comfortable and supportive, the suspension is a bit stiff but that's how I like it

Best of all, it doesn't command attention. People only look when they hear it

Lol, I'm still below what a CR would cost me now if I had to guess. Plus my car is so far modded it wouldn't be worth it (supercharger namely). I just did a quick tally in my head and I've probably dropped less than $2k for all of the CR parts I have (not including hardtop that I had previously).

Returning to stock + selling mine + finding CR would definitely be more expensive. And then it wouldn't be the fastest color - NFR!

Ideally, I'd like to have a GPW CR, GPW (or any colour) NSX, and a FBP ITR.

But I'll settle for having my huge d#&k instead.

Similar to me actually. I wanted a BB or GPW S2ki - CR wasn't out yet but I wanted a black interior and the extra ~$4k was outside of my price range at the time (06+ GPW w/ black)

Then a PY ITR or '97 CW ITR. NSX would be fun too but I've also got an inkling for an older Viper GTS

I have a BB S2000 and PY ITR. We'll see how long I actually keep the ITR. Viper would be fun as a statement car for sure. But a NSX would turn on every day when you turn the key. Insane concept for supercars.

I'll take an imola NSX or S2000.
That's about it...other colors are nice and I can picture how pretty they'd look with this or that on them...but in reality, I'm very happy with the colors I have.

that shiet is rare enough that if someone luckily died in some sort of hang gliding accident, I probably still couldn't afford what the estate would be selling it for.

There's a flawless imola with orange interior here locally I've seen...gorgeous!
