This has nothing to do with Logic. Common sense tells you that the car's price is inflated due to market demand.
For me, i understand why s2000s are so expensive and I know that is the market value but your brain/common sense tells you "that is a lot of money for a 10 years car that was only $30k brand new.
and buying a brand new car vs. buying a 10 years old car just feels different and to a lot of people, it is hard for them to choose the 10 years old car.
In my case, i bought a brand new White 05 for $31k OTD and a used 07 Laguna Blue Pearl for $25k OTD in 2010 with 29k miles. Now the market is telling me to buy the same car for the same price i paid 5 years old is hard to justify even though i know that is how much they are going for.

What I meant is look at the guys who regret NOT buying an NSX when it was 45k. Overpriced? Surely. But now that they're going for 60k, I'm sure those guys are kicking themselves for not jumping on it back then.

You're missing the point. It makes sense to pay 25k because you aren't losing that 25k. However, you are losing a shit ton on a new car. A well maintained 10 year old car that is in a good climate will not necessarily be a hooptie compared to a new car.
The want for an s2000 will never go down. Some people will turn away from them but others will join.
Your mind is telling you that spending 25k on a car with 60k miles is a bad idea, but it really isn't. You have nothing to lose if you ever want your money back. Or very little, if anything.
I love the S2k and have been shopping relatively hard for an AP2, but it makes me cringe to drop low to mid $20k on one that is 10 years old with 50-70k miles. That's more than my 07 TL-S with 85k miles is worth and arguably the TL-S is quite a bit more car. Maybe I need to get some seat time in one to be fully convinced?
lol no. The TL is quite a bit more car pound for pound but you definitely need some seat time because...

The first time I rode in one, I had the biggest shit eating grin on my face. For the whole 90 minute cruise. My face hurt after. The wind blowing through my hair in the evening air was refreshing yet violent as it beat against my head. The bolstering of the seats held me firmly yet comfortably. The engine screams with intent and with nothing more than a CAI, will blew my mind. Best sounding I4 I've ever heard.
The first time I drove one, my heart was racing. Cracking into VTEC is literally symphonic. The shifts are fast and flawlessly crisp. The steering is precise with enough weight and feedback to keep you focused. Seeing the tachometer in your peripheral climb to red is back-of-your-neck hair raising. The clutch engages with purpose, yet is at home for daily driving purposes. The chassis is stiff with literally almost zero flex. This car is purpose built for nothing else but thrills.
A TL, even a Type S, isn't even half of what an s2000 is.
This.

Thanks for replies guys. I need to get to a dealer and take one for a test drive. I've never driven or ridden in one which is making it hard to over come logic. It sounds like the emotional connection is what makes it all worth while.
From the posts I see online it sounds next to impossible to take one for a drive/ride. "No test drives unless you have a brief case full of cash." Let's see how this goes.

I let prospective buyers drive mine while I was selling it. Just be serious with the seller
On the other hand, you can always get a tuned NC miata for cheaper.
My first S2000...I literally decided I'd buy one on a Thursday. Found the one I liked on autotrader that night and Friday night took the wife to dinner and embarked on a 6 hour adventure driving up to pick it up. She was not please.
When I got to Melbourne, I had never ever driven an S2000. Only sat in one at a dealership once when it was new and out of range. So I make my lovely wife drive with me for 3 hours...see it in the driveway at night at the guy's gf's house...gorgeous. I get in and I'm like, man...it's cramped. Turn it on and I'm like man that's rattly and loud. Test drive it and I'm like what a POS this is nothing like my TL...rattles and noises and creaks and cramped. I'm like dude...wife will kill me if I made her drive up here for a test drive. Shake on the deal, buy it and drive to the gas station to fill up. Get on the highway vteckkkingggg king every gear...then cruising 90 mph the whole way home. By the time I got home I was like...I'm in love with this fkng car.
Tough to explain...and obviously I already once let myself decide it was frivolous and I should sell and I regretted it every day.
About the NSX, I doubt there are many of those guys, Adam. At least for me, for instance, 45K is out of my price range so $60K just makes me happy to know it's even further from my price range and I can just put it out of my mind easier as a desire.
I do everything Jeremy does because, you know, he's my little brony.
Jeremy wants an S2K, I want an S2k. Jeremy makes his GF drive hours to buy one, I make my GF drive to another state to buy one. I had to draw the line at selling it, regretting it and buying another, though.
But now I see other guys with 2 and even 3 of them in their stable? I think I need a new brony!! Oonowindoo seems like a great candidate!!

You've never been on Prime then you'd be surprised how many are kicking themselves. They're a small group, but they are definitely out there and all over the place.
I thought so at first too. While you do have to mess with the clutch a lot more, I discovered something cool with mine that the old manuals I drove didn't do. I was in very heavy traffic and accidentally found that in 1st gear, after already moving, that it would coast on a flat road at about 3 to 4 mph without my feet on any of the pedals. I though that was cool as the old cars I drove always stalled out. Of course that's on a flat road and with being in KS there are plenty of those. If you are hilly country... well you're fucked.

Every manual car I've driven, built since 1988, has done this

Yeah...every car does this....
Anyway, it's not the manual part. IDGAF about that. It's more of the lack of creature comforts that suck when you're just sitting there lol. The S2000 is a phenomenal machine when in motion but just to sit in while idle...not so much.
Not every car. Like a I said these were old manuals. Like a 70's Datsun truck and a wheat truck. I haven't driven a "recent" manual for more than a day or two and not in heavy traffic. So for me it's new.
Most of my pics are from before the wheels were dipped. Also giving the TL some love too. I never posted my dip progression on it so adding in pics of the Matte Black (1st dip) and Anthracite Grey (2nd dip) at the bottom.
Sean, you have an eclectic style. I dig it!
Have you considered a faux wood finish on your garage doors? I think it would look spectacular as contrast to the gray of the walls.

I did consider a different color for the Garage doors but didn't go that route at the time as I went through 38 paint samples just to find a body/trim that I liked. Ended up with Cast Iron with Ripe Olive trim so it's more greenish overall with some grey tones in it. Also the outside lights are plasti dipped red. I did it for christmas one year and never peeled them. At the time I actually dipped the glass pieces red and green alternating which almost gave it a barber pole look at night when turned on. I've messed around with dip quite a bit.
