If it really is 7.5 to 60 in the 4 door, it doesnt feel like it. The 6MT coupe does it in 5.9

I'd go drive it instead of taking those numbers as gospel. It may be one of those cases where it has a lazy 2-3 upshift right before 60mph....or they may have programmed the engine management/transmission to be soft and easy off the line....etc.

The 4dr isnt available with the 6MT.

I have noticed in my moms 08 Accord V6 that when flooring it from a stop it likes to got into second around 5k rpms. Im not sure why they programmed it that way, but it does it damn near every time.

Motorweek tested a 2008 Accord Coupe 6MT. With 271HP and 251 lb/ft of torque, they manage a very fine 0-60 of 5.8 seconds and a quarter mile of 13.9 seconds at 101 MPH. Those are excellent times.

Speaking of the new 6MT coups has anyone done anything with one yet? turbo/SC/build? The car definitely has some potential.

those are times for a 6MT coupe im not getting a coupe cuz my family and all and a sedan is just more ideal but they dont make the sedan in 6MT so what are the times on the sedan V6..i had a 2007 Accord V6 sedan Auto and it ran 0 to 60 in 6.6 i cant see the new sedan being faster more Hp and much SLOWER.. i thought it would be around the same time maybe less or soemthing not 7.5 if those numbers are correct..maybe im better off getting another 07 accord v6 preowned i loved that car but maybe stick wit that since its quicker..although i must say i do like the front of the new accord i hate the back..i just dont wanna downgrade to something slower.. but my dad said hey its a 09 new is new..lol maybe just look at it like that

MY question is why are you looking at an Accord if you want something fast? THere are much better options out there for speed (ahem, G8, ahem)....

Honestly, the 8G EX-L V6 5AT s/b about as quick as the Acura TL (base 5AT), with Edmunds posting a 0-60 mph time of 6.7 seconds on the latter. (And Edmunds is not exactly known for posting blazing acceleration times.)

The G8 is great but has two caveats: fuel economy (gas prices are bound to shoot up again) and RWD only layout (not preferrable living in the NYC area during winter). These two are the main reasons why I personally would still opt for a loaded AV6 (or Altima 3.5SE) over the G8 GT.

I truely bet go differ bro! The G8 is a fantastic car, based on the australian Holden Commodore. Its a true sports sedan, with PLENTY of bang for the buck. Its more solidly built than the altima, because aussie roads are total s**t. the chasis, is very similar to BMW's 5 series. As far as gas goes, that 3.5 liter is tunned out, and thirsty as hell. Its not much better than a G8. Oh and as for the white stuff,.....snow tires FTW!

WTF? The G8 nearly as good gas mileage as the V6 Accord? Are you on crack? And winter tires on a 300+ hp RWD sedan in New England does not mean it'll be nearly as safe or easy to get around in as a FWD Accord. Jeebus.

Hopefully this little "stiffy' will help with my wheel hop issues when launching. Should be here in a few days.

There was a guy on v 6 p that ran a 13.6 with just an Injen intake and test pipe in place of the third cat.

OP- Just go test drive the Accord. If it is slower then the 7th gen I certainly dont feel it. Plus the interior is very nice.

2009 G8 GT 6AT mileage = 15/24
2009 Accord V6 5AT mileage = 19/29

A careful reading (read: slow) of my post will show that performance was not one of the two caveats I mentioned.

That said, it's unlikely that the G8 GT will get anywhere near the fuel economy of the AV6 (in average driving)....3.5L or not. As for the ludricrous assumption that a 385lb-ft RWD V8 sedan w/snow tires >> FWD 248lb-ft V6 sedan when it comes to traveling in the snow is just plain silly.

I was comparing the V8's fuel economy to that of the 3.5L nissan altima, you said you would get, instead. I've seen real world tests in the swiss alps from audi, and BMW, and the rwd bimmers, with good snow tires, were way more stable than audi quattro, with all seasons. Its ALL about the tires. Thats what's comming in contact with the surface.

I drove my Accord six-speed tonight. For the first time in about eight months. I gotta admit, that car still brings a smile to my face. For what it does, it does very well. I find it's performance and drivability actually usable. Sure, it isn't really a hardcore sports coupe, but it's athletic moves can certainly be appreciated and admired in most conditions.

^ That says a lot coming from someone with a lot of muscle car experience.

I saw a really nice new black on black Mustang GT today and the sound of it just totally had me drooling, but then I thought about my 6 speed Accord and how I'm getting nearly 30mpg and yet it's still very fun to drive (and I love the sound of my exhaust too ). Made me realize how good I have it and how I'd hate having to go to the gas station twice as much if I had a GT or a G8. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the feel of the V8 ripping through the gears is a trade off on the gas mileage, but for now since I can't have both I'm happy with the Accord.

Like you said, for what it does, it does it very well.

I understand your financial decisions, and I hope you are happy witht he accord. If you can shell out $480 per month, and since you looked into leasing, why not lease an Acura TLS, BMW, or Audi? there are plenty of nicer choises in that lease price range,, than the accord. Just my thoughts.

The pontiac G8, isn't "american". Its Australian! I think the body is about the only thing "american" about it. You are really driving a Holden Commodore. Its just like the Pontiac GTO, which is the Holden Monaro HSV. They haven't stopped making the parts for this car, so you should have no worries. Good Luck no matter what you get.

Buy a helmet, and head to your local track circuit, if you really want to see the difference between your accord and a mustang GT or G8! and they aren't that BAD on gas, as you guys are trying to make it seem. I used to own an '03 accord V6 coupe, and the gas milage wasn't really anything to shout about.

Dude, this is the Honda Accord thread, I don't know why you're in here trying to persuad people to buy a G8. Great car, no doubt, but it's not everyone's cup of tea for various reasons. And your experience with your Accord is yours, not the one and only for all to live by. I get nearly 30mpg in mine, with performance mods and fun spirited driving, so I'm happy and have no desire to buy a G8 or 'Stang anytime soon. Go start a G8 thread if you're so in love with the car, but stop devaluing Accords just because you have a hard-on for a G8.

Installed the Ingalls "Stiffy" this morning. I'm really liking it. Makes shifting a lot smoother. Less nose dive when changing gears. There is a tiny bit more engine noise in the cabin, but not so much that it's annoying. I just left it on the stock setting, which is on the soft side according to their instuctions, but that's the way I'll probably keep it just so the engine noise doesn't get too much more noticeable. I haven't had a chance to really launch it yet, so can't comment on gaining any traction or having less wheel hop yet.

61k now and zero issues. Got the car new, engines purrs, btw I think Castrol Syntec is the best motor oil in the v6 MT Accord, I have tried Royal Purple, M1, PP none have given me the seats of the pants push like the Syntec. Now if only the road noise were toned down we would have pretty much a TL Jr.
