yes, you wouldnt believe how often i get asked why i have that on there.

if it wasnt rivited, and there was a replacement that would fit, i would exchange it.

but it also adds to its uniqueness.. there are only 3 of us over on VeesixPee that have managed to find one for sale.

I wish I could find my '83 Accord and fix it up to mint condition....I miss that car SO much....

It was the same color as that '79 Accord: Desert Tan. I miss not having a clear coat too; just wax and you've got insta-shine!

Not unless the 2011 is an exception from other Accords I know of. Accord engines are designed to work with regular unleaded, whereas those in Acuras are typically designed to work with premium. I do not believe using premium adds much if any benefit to engines designed for regular (although it certainly does for engines designed for premium).

I'm not sure about the synthetic oils other than knowing that's often debated no matter the car.

If you don't have an owner's manual, there's a pdf version here:
http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/p...1/A51111OM.pdf

Edit - Nice find, by the way!

Thanks very much! I was told it uses regular gas, but wasn't sure if I was just told that as a selling point since Im coming from a CL. Also not sure if it's coming with the owners manual, (I'm picking it up later today). I'm going to bookmark and read over the manual in the link you posted. Thanks!

^ Im not sure about the 2011 3.5, but the 7G 3.0 premium gas users get a 10 HP bump. So, I use premium in mine.

Honda never said anything about a power bump when using premium in the V6 Accord. IIRC someone put his car on a dyno and found there was ~5 whp difference, but it's still debated over constantly.

I would put regular in a V6.

i cant say i've ever looked that deep into it.

just knowing im spending $3 a week on a "better" fuel gives me peace of mind all around. more HP or not...

its certainly not hurting anything, it can only have advantages, if anything.

The Accord V-6 ratings assume regular-grade fuel, and Honda will market it as a regular-fuel engine. But — pssst — it's good for another 10 hp and 10-plus lbs.-ft. on premium, acknowledges V-6 engineer Asaki.

Yea I'm living in London for now. It's been my dream car for a long time too lol. Cars here are dirt cheap, insurance kills you if you are under 25 but that is everywhere I will figure out insurance somehow. This one is a 2001 with 92k miles, for under $4k. 2.2 Vtec 212bhp. I don't want any other car

How comfortable would you be with a 2005 V6 AT? I know the 03/04s are bad, but the 06/07s are fine for the most part.

Also, 6th gens? I know the 4-cylinders have timing belts, do they have the same transmission problems? Or is it relegated to V6s?

I'm pretty sure that the transmission issues were with both engines, based mostly in that Honda extended the warranty to 100K miles. Mine threw a missed shift code at one point but no other problems so far.

(On a related note, at 201,660 miles, the car did not start for the first time, ever. Replaced the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, and it's working. I now also own a Mazda.)

Damn, in the case I'll stay away from AT 6Gs... I saw a few nice ones too.

What was your reaction when the car didn't start? Were you shocked?

And congrats on the new car

I'm not sure avoiding 6G ATs is necessary. I'd guess that most of the cars with faulty transmissions have had them replaced by now, while cars like mine have lasted over 200K miles on the original. I need to knock on a lot of wood writing a statement like that.

Anyway, when my car didn't start, I was a little surprised, but I was more in the, "I knew this day would come, but now I need to figure out how to get where I need to be" mode. At least I was in my driveway rather than a downtown parking garage at midnight.

And thanks! I was going to make make a thread, but it's a Mazda 3, not an FR-S, M3 or S4. It is great to be driving a manual again, especially as the car is nimble and fun. The fuel efficiency will be nice, as well, since I drive about 85 miles per day. I may eventually get something higher end and keep it low mileage (and out the parking garage of doom), but I really like the Mazda so far.

I'm curious to know how the 03-05 Accord V6 6MT's held their value so well in comparison to the 03 CL-S 6MT. Guys here getting 9k+ for their 7th Gens where I'd be lucky to get 5k for the CL. No disrespect to the Accord owners (love them, almost bought a 7th gen) but I consider the CLS6 to be a superior car. I'm guessing name recognition and a much bigger aftermarket has something to do with it?

Are the replaced transmissions different from the originals?

And glad to hear you're enjoying the new car. I know you were looking for quite a while

I think a big part of it is that 2003 was the last year of the CL, and the first year of the 7G. The Accord had a new design, new interior, etc.

Aman - Thanks. I seriously over-analyzed, but most of the market has moved away from my preferences. At least I planned that when my Accord showed signs that I needed to have another car, I'd look for a MT 6th or 7th Accord, 1st gen TSX or new Mazda 3. When I got the internet price on the 3, I took it for a drive and bought it.

Edit - I still felt kind of bad when I left my Accord on the lot and drove off in another car. I came back later to get it, but still. I know it's just a machine, but it's one with which I've been through a lot.

As for the transmission replacements, I don't know. I did forget to mention that my parents have a 2002 V6 AT Accord which has not had any problems, either. It has less than 50K miles, however (it's essentially a retirement car).

azeezp13 - I think that beyond the enthusiast market, at least, a major reason for the disparity is simply that people shopping for a car--especially one for less that $10K or so--are far more likely to search for an Accord than a CL.

The CL was based on the 6G Accord, so you cant really compare it with the 7G.

Still, not many people know about the CL. It was never in demand, even when it was new.
