$6 / gal in FLA?!?!?!?

TAMPA (CBS Tampa) — Talk about pain at the pump! Some Florida drivers are spending nearly $6 a gallon to fill up their gas tanks.

According to GasBuddy.com, motorists are shelling out $5.89 for a gallon of regular gas at a Shell station in Lake Buena Vista, topping out at $5.99 a gallon for premium. It doesn’t get better at a Suncoast Energy station in Orlando, where drivers are paying $5.79 for a gallon of regular.

“Prices over in the Disney World area are much higher than any other place in Florida,” Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, told CBS Tampa, adding that people regularly complain about gas prices in that area.

I am getting 20/21mpg right now but it would be better if I would slow down lol. I am 80%hwy 20%city. Problem is on highway I am doing 80. I really should slow down to 65 so I can get like 24/25mpg.

Yeah I feel like I am not even moving anymore at 65mph. I also I feel that I am much more attentive to what is going on when I am going 75-85mph.

$3.59/gallon for premium here! Not that bad compared to some parts of the country, I guess!

It's near Disney World, it's unfortunately not that unusual. Same for airports, especially near the car rental drop off.

I bought my car in Sep. 2009 with like 4 miles on the meter.

It's still less than 16k miles!

The car is still like new except it's dirty, but one full detail will take care of it. lol

I just look at an average tank of gas and see where I drove. If you want to be exact, keep tabs on how long you spend on the highway as well as your overall drive time for that tank. Then average it out over a year or so. Im not nearly that scientific though.

For me, its about 1hour 15minutes to get to work each day. ~45 minutes of that time is spent on the highway. Due to my schedule, I very rarely sit in traffic. Where I live, whenever I go anywhere, a highway is used. Out there, youre probably the opposite of me - you probably spend most of your time on side streets, dealing with traffic lights and other nonsense.

Fortunately, NJ is still well below the $4 mark for all octane levels. However, I suspect that this will be short lived. So glad I have the Accord 4 cylinder now.

As expected, I paid $4.20/gallon for premium today, but that was at a cheaper station: ARCO.

I put 36k miles on mine the first year.

Using GasBuddy it appears that gas already north of Charlotte is just over $4 for premium now.

I'm right around 65 / 70% highway, I do a lot of city driving on the weekends which kills my average MPG.

I think the best tank I ever got on the Accord was driving to Vegas, I was right around 33mpg.

I usually just cruise on the freeway at 70mph, but like you guys .. onramps are just too much fun.

With the increase in price before Summer, I'll have to fill up every time I'm at the half way mark. City driving blows.

Paid $4.46 x about 13 gallons, total was $58.49.

I pay for premium 91 fuel .. I might have to downgrade to 87 during the summer .
