These MT retro videos are always a reminder of how far we've come in automotive performance, safety, and luxury. Although that 30 mpg rating is still impressive.

No idea what MPG I got, the ODO was dead at over 300k when we bought it. The 240D I had was the same. ODO stopped over 300k.

Both were running strong before sold & totaled, respectively.

NEVER use a rubber mallet to hit a ball joint loose. Doing it on the ground kills almost all of your effort to efficiently hit the ball joint / knuckle area to knock it loose. Invest in a 3-5 pound steel head hammer which will make the job a bit easier. Best way to do this is having a vehicle on a lift and your standing on your feet using the proper hammer. All about efficiency, direct blows and less of a chance to get injured. Another thing that helps when doing it on the ground. is hitting it with heat. Even using a plumbers torch (bernzomatic pencil torch) should produce enough heat to knock the ball joint loose.

I said what the actual fuck out loud when I saw him tapping the LCA with a rubber mallet. He should've given up before he picked it up. I've got a 3lb sledge that breaks ball joints use with a maximum of 2 blows to the right spot.

Bugatti 110 Year Anniversary

I really like "automotive inspirational" type videos. Bugatti did a pretty good job on this one.

It's crazy how much steering input was needed to keep that thing in a straight line.

1 mistake and ... well, you're probably dead.

I imagine it's got a pretty slow rack, to keep it from overreacting. Still pretty puckering how much it was wandering.

But, Andy Green also piloted the Thrust SSC to its record, so he's got a bit of experience.
