Just curious if the standard calls for meeting those individually or collectively...

It's a lot easier to make a window that can withstand ONE 7.62 round than it is to make a single window that can withstand 5-6 of the same rounds. Each impact degrades the future ability of the window/armor/body panel to protect.

That's a good question. I looked it up and there's not much there on what the standard actually is ... I wondered too if that meant 400 rounds out of a FN FAL and then hit by an IED from 4 meters or if it was an either/or thing.

From what I read about the Land Cruiser that was VR7, it took all 400 rounds and there was no cabin penetration at all. I think that's 400 to the whole car and not necessarily 400 to the windshield.

There are even speakers in the A8 so that occupants can speak to people outside the car and tell them to get the hell out of the way.
that would be helpful sometimes !

Hey guys, been awhile since I've been on. Want to share my most recent upgrades:

After a small parking lot accident, I had insurance pay for a euro front end. This includes ecode (euro) headlights, Euro spec front bumper and LW rebar, front parking sensors, and no amber at all anymore! This spring I am going to tackle the pre-cats, IM spacers, and a shallow x-pipe crossover right after the DP's.

Suspension time?

Looks good though, nice job getting a Euro front end on the insurance's dime.

EH IDk, I think the stock DRC (rev B) does a very good job, esp. considering I don't track her. I may do a thicker rear sway bar to give the car a bit more a neutral feel but she's very good as is with the 40:60 split.

Update...

I recently installed Neuspeed Sport springs on my B7 along with B5 Caps. So far I love the drop and its perfect for my tastes. I still have the OEM sport shocks.

I also am running B6 S4 Avus wheels

Excuse the filthy car

^^ I really miss my S4

My '98 328i isn't a bad car but I wish I still had my B6.

VMR v701's, 19x8.5" ET 35 (with 5mm spacers in the rear)

Yep...had to change the intake manifold. Luckily it was under warranty.

Nice, I'm really diggin' the 19x8.5 VMR 710's in Gun Metal.

If/When I ever upgrade the wheels, the only thing is I don't want to upgrade the suspension on my Avant. The rear stance is good, the front, not so much. I want to upgrade to the B5 perches to lower the front and i've heard of others doing this while upgrading to 19's, but just haven't seen enough pics of this setup to decide if it's worth it. If you come across any combos like that, lemme know, I really want to get a good feel for what that setup would look like.

Let's not do this again.

The UR Quattro had Porsche brake calipers that said Porsche on them. Part swapping w/in teh VAG is not verboten.

It's not my call, but... this is like putting Acura wheels on an Accord and keeping the Acura center caps on. It just looks weird.

Again, not my car. If it makes you happy, then keep it the way it is

Anyone hear anything about what might be changing on the S4 with the refresh? I am guessing it will affect the 2013 model out this time next year?

I've been considering one, but I don't want to get caught with something that looks old within a few months.

S4 came out little over two years ago, I doubt that new model will come out. IMO.

I will double check with my friend who works at Audi.

Thanks man!

I just keep hearing about a mid cycle refresh in 2013. Similar to what just came out for the S5 refresh that came out a few weeks ago. Personally I am hoping it looks just a bit more aggressive, it looks too similar to a regular A4.

This is one of the links I had seen, but it was from a few months ago...

The new A4 is probably going to get something similar to the new A5 front end.

I snapped some pics at the Barcelona Airport (earlier this month) where they had a new A6 on display. Didn't think to take pics of the entire care, I only did the front and the headlights. I was thinking how this would look on the A5. They look different compared to the professional pics I have seen for this headlight design. There was nothing there indicating what model year the car was.

Snapped these at the dealership while dropping the Avant off for regular service.

This is the closest my Avant will get to a supercharged badge, namely, being inches from the badge as a reflection in the paint. LOL
