Noob intro!

Whats up acurazine... I'm Tino and my ride is a 91½ Escort GT.
Underhood is a Mazda BP 1.8 DOHC (1st gen Protege and 94-00 Miata), with a complete JDM Mazda Familia 323 GTX turbo setup.
Car weighs ~2200lbs, and dyno's 200whp, 225wtq.
Here's some pix of the car/setup. I'm open to all feedback pos or neg, just nice to be on another local forum

heres a couple of the setup..

Welcome to the forum. Car looks good, and you've obviously done quite a bit of work to it.

Def a car I wouldn't expect to be faster than mine. Great sleeper! Is the escort GT basically a mazda 323 chassis?

Honestly not as much as you may think... Its all 99% drop in. One wire had to be added to the OEM harness and swap in the JDM turbo ECU...

Thanks, it definitely does do damage for what it is... by no means did i build this expecting a 400whp beast, but i did get out of it exactly what i wanted.... a fast, good looking, EXTREMELY fun daily driver that can spank on cars an escort has no business spanking, while bein a hell of a sleeper.

As far as the chassis, ALL escorts (2dr,4dr,wagon,ZX2,) 91-03 were built off of the Mazda BG chassis, which was shared btween Protege, 323, Escort, Tracer, and 94-97 Kia Sephia.

I gotta admit, the head turning, the WTF faces i get is the best part about it, plus the fact that theres only 2 turbo in the state

thats an awesome power to weight ratio! lightweight is the way to go!

but im sorry, i gotta be a jerk and say I can't appreciate the looks of this car...

but i do know that the performance side of your car has to be a blast. I have 200whp, but my 2001 3.2CL-P weighs in at 3600lbs...if i could get anywhere near 2200lbs, i'd love it, itd be soooo fun!

yeah, i'm not necessarily proud of it, but I have seen redline in 5th in my CL-P (~147mph)...i will NEVER do this again, but ill never forget it...

stayed at redline for a solid 2-3 seconds, then let off: the entire car jerked back like I hit the brakes or something...was not expecting that at all!

The reason i love the look of the car so much is because of the fact thats its the 1st year of the gen2 GT, the 3piece wing, the more aggressive ground effects, are exclusive to 91.... The part i really love, is that the car is a 1991½ Escort GT Cayman edition.. only a lil over 1200 GTs made in this color Cayman green, and it has the color matched wheels, 2 tone dash board, color matched interior piping, a lot of lil touches that sets this escort off from the norm... people HAVE mistaken it for a foxbody lol heres some more pix

Ahhhhhh, I'm having flashback of removing door panels over and over again. I must have changed the speakers in that car 100 times.....

Let's see - one screw in the arm rest, one screw behind the door handle, pop the clip off the window arm with a rag and then get all the pop-clips with a cooking fork........

My wife and I owned a '93 Escort back in the day. Was a pretty good car. I wish I'd been able to make ours boogie like yours! What an awesome sleeper.

wow havent logged on in a while, unfortunately the car is gone, blew the motor, lost my job, built another motor, and my boys father scrapped it all within a week. So I traded the car for a 2002 Mazda Protegé5 even trade... Only thing wrong with it is the stripes which are painted on not vinyls...

So heres a couple more vids of the escort b4 it went and a couple pix of the next project...
This one is goin V6 swap and turbo

Dashboard Accel. videos

and the farewell video
