Nexson, your work is superb by far as displayed throughout this thread!
With that said, I hope you are being a 'steward of the environment' when it comes to the disposal of all the VOC's used in your home painting operation, like waste thinners/rags used in cleaning the spray guns, waste paint/contaminated solids disposal etc.?
Broward County states on the link below under 'Sanding or Spray Painting':
http://www.broward.org/EnvironmentAn...s.aspx#sanding
'Businesses and residents are allowed to sand and spray paint outside. However, they are required to take reasonable precautions to contain the dust and paint droplets (a.k.a overspray) generated from sanding and spray painting activities.
A business or person may sand or paint a vehicle outside as long as reasonable precautions are in place to prevent the paint dust or droplets from drifting off of their property or impacting the environment.'
It appears that your innovative paint booth is providing the reasonable precaution needed to contain overspray; however, the fans that you are using to create negative pressure are not explosion proof in the capacity they are being utilized. If you are not very careful and with the proper ppm of VOC in the air during the conduct of spraying, an explosion could result via the electric fan motors.
Furthermore, it would be very prudent, to yourself/family and the residences that surround you, to invest in at least one fire proof storage cabinet to house all of the VOC's you employ to ply your craft. Placement would be optimal at the front of the garage door somewhere where ventilation is best.
The last thing anyone wants to see is horrible accident occur.
Good Luck!

Well that's a wrap guys I got a complaint on July 15 in regards to the painting I was doing. In the complaint there were links to my YouTube videos. I won't be able to paint or make any more videos helping anyone out, however if you PM me I can help you out. I actually took my paint booth cut it into 100 pieces and threw it away. Thanks for the support and good luck in any project that you do!

damn, that is brutal.
the workmanship and expertise displayed in this thread was awe-inspiring.
it never ceases to amaze how some people will go out of their way and spend their time to make sure other people are unhappy.

What the hell Brian?!?!?! I'm so sorry man.
I'm a bit lost though. Who complained? Someone in your neighborhood or online or what?

Yup! Freaking sucks. There goes my passion and my hobby. Something that always kept me honest to myself to be better at what I did. Now that I feel I am out of the trait I will lose my touch if I ever get started again in a facility. I just don't get it. I'd only work for a couple of weeks in a month. Made all these videos and pictural threads to help others out. Answers countless pms assisting others and then this happens. I have a detailed two page complaint. Oh well. I really don't know what to do with myself. I sort of just sit around now with nothing to work on. Weekends are spent around the tv when they should be spent working and learning. Thanks for the support. I'm keeping the thread up for others to apperciate and learn.

It's quite a coincidence that his operation was shut down a month after your post.

I have a copy of the complaint. It is very detailed and the concern is about the hazards of paint in the air. And they are not being disposed of properly. I never accused zeta of complaining but he lives in south Florida and well so do I. I did not however know about the hazardous cocerns of a paint booth as far as a big explosion. I might post the complaint. It is a public record so anyone can obtain it.

I appreciate the support Street. I make a few casual common sense observations and now I have to defend myself against someone who got caught by their on devices, and it's my fault. Right!

That totally sucks man especially when you are contributing a great deal of skill and knowledge that will help other persons. I wouldn't be quick to point fingers at that Zeta guy as anybody that access to the internet can be here lurking.

ZETA, no one has accused you, but you keep stating your innocent over something that was never brought up about you. It's cool man, not sure why you are defending yourself if I never said you did it.

I am working on finding a place to properly set up. It is hard because this has always just been a hobby and now having to fund my hobby with rent/lease is going to be hard. We will see what happens. I been staying clean lately, no paint in the fingernails! I kinda like it this way hahah. I try to stay optimistic in every situation guys, we have to. Can't beat myself up for this, I learned alot along the way.

Nexson, What exactly do you think goes on in a paint facility outside of the act of actually painting?

If zeta truly were to report you Brian, wouldn't he have to have your address? Has he done business with you in the past?
Lets give zeta the benefit of the doubt here.

Sorry to hear about this Brian...it was actually the parts guys at Acura that told me about it (sunroof noise fixed?). Guess it was true!
To be entirely honest with you, it wasn't zeta...I reported you, I'm vigilant about the environment and really felt like you exhausting the fumes out of the garage was bad news and should be stopped at all costs.
Not as glorious as revealing that you're superman, but my real identity is Captain Planet!
Ok, in all seriousness...I was thinking, could you have done what zeta suggested about locking up the VOC's and exhausting and catching overspray properly? Or build a deck in the backyard that you would leave up a permanent spray booth or something...something that could follow the rules and not be as visible to the average joe?
I'll stand by what I told you in person...you go to a traditional clean paintbooth...one that doesn't make you waste time setting up etc...and vents properly...you're going to be a beast. You'll make enough money in one weekend to cover materials and rent for the entire month, and the rest will be play money to keep up your hobby. Downside is you won't be home...but look into those warehouses behind the publix on 196 (or was it 208) and Sheridan. I'll even come by and give you a hand so you're not too lonely.
Zeta, the way you're getting so defensive and the timing of the post/complaint makes it reasonably hard to believe you weren't the one to rat him out. Are you a customer of his or something? I can't see anyone that's met Brian in person being upset or unhappy with his work.

This is BS! People hate to see others succeed. I only wish I had the skills to do the kind of work you do. Its quality work without cutting corners.
Someone has nothing else to do, except complain about people staying busy/productive with their lives. I guess they report every litterbug, trash burning, improper liquid disposal, NON-recycling people too.
Brian, I hope you get a shop that you can get into and become "famous". lol This just might be your "PUSH" to get you were you NEED to be (ie: bigger facility).
