That's hilarious, Tim! I never really made the connection, but it does indeed look like I could cook some of my vegetarian burgers on top of my inner cooler!

From the factory, the Mazdaspeed 3 & 6 have a 13.5 oz steel weight attached to the shift linkage bracket. This OEM weight maintains a smooth, heavier feel during shifting. Though some drivers like this stock feel, others prefer to have a lighter, more responsive feel. The reduction in weight yields faster gear shifting and a heightened response throughout all gears.
Just installed both. Took literally 10 minutes. The shifting difference is incredible. Can't believe I waited this long to do this mod!

Hmmm. I typically like a heavier shifter, that way I can throw it into gear a bit easier. With an lightened shifter, I've found it easier to grind on faster shifts. I guess its personal preference though

I typically do, too. I'll have to see how it drives tomorrow. If it starts grinding I'll likely keep the short shift plate but put the stock weight back on.

Well you were right civic, it was way too notchy and hard to get into gear for my taste with the lightened counterweight. I went back to the stock and it feels sooo much nicer. Much shorter shifts but still smooth as stock. For this valuable insite you will receieve a set of 26" bacon wrapped dubs for your FR-S shortly.

Oh, and how come I only got 24" dubs wrapped in Sizzle Lean for letting you drive the M5?

It's simple - It was late when I installed everything the other night, so I didn't actually test drive the car after the install, I just shifted through the gears while the car was sitting in the garage turned off. It felt great then, but once I drove the car this morning it felt much harder to get into gear, thus my opinion on the weight changed. And another simple explanation for the rims - At the time 24" imitation-bacon wrapped dubs were the only available option out there. Plus they would've just been traded in on the car anyway.

I actually thought about that lol. I did have the lightened COBB knob on at one point but I'm back to the weighted stock knob now, so technically it is a heavy shift knob but not like the super heavy aftermarket ones out there. Honestly now that it's back to the stock weight it feels damn good.

Meh it's actually pretty damn good for fake bacon. My wife and I joke it probably tastes good to us though because we haven't had real meat in over 2 1/2 years.

I picked my son up from daycare early yesterday. We washed our rides before taking a cruise around the park. Even my boy has a thing for red cars with gunmetal rims.

Washn' his ride

Our rides all clean and sparkly

Ready to cruise for chicks. I don't usually condone drinking and driving, but in this case it was ok.

It's a pretty bad a5s car seat, but the thing is freaking huge. If we have another kid I honestly don't know if I'll be able to keep the MS6. I might have to go full size car or SUV.
