The new king of the Supercars
The new king of the Supercars
I searched but couldn't find anything about the new Mclaren P1.
Scope out this article, and tell me that isn't the sickest car ever designed. The MP4-12c already smoked the Bugatti Veyron SS on the Top Gear test track. I can't wait to see what the P1 will do. It's reported to produce at most 3.7lbs per 1hp compared to the Veyron which is 4.5lbs per 1hp
The technology on the car alone is unreal. I mean it's expected to generate over 1320lbs of downforce. Along with the active twin element rear wing, and the flaps in front of the front tires that are actively adjustable for more downforce or less drag. Plus the full carbon fiber monocell with it's integrated rollcage. The only downside is the flappy paddle gear box, but you can pull back on the right side to upshift and push forward to dowshift, vice-verse on the left paddle.
And you gotta love the classic Papaya Orange that all of Bruce McLaren's cars were liveried in.

BTW, I'm probably in the minority but, while I love the MP4-12C, I don't like the P1 design.

I'm a huge technology nut. That's why I love Formula 1, I mean the engines are rev limited to 18,000rpm. That means each spark plug is firing 75 times a second. It's been said that without the rev limiters they'd be over 22,000+rpm. Also, the blown diffusers they ran last year where they'd adjust the timing so the exhaust valves would be open even while the engine was firing to supply pressure out of the exhaust. Hell, even in the early 21st Century Champ Cars where spinning over 15,000rpm, and that was with conventional valve springs not the pneumatic springs F1 cars use.
I just love the tech in racing, that's why it's my favorite sport by far.
