Every 3750 or 7500?
So, the G just turned 40(,000) and I'm considering following the every 3,750 maintenance schedule now. I've been following the every 3,750 schedule all the way up to 30K, then I decided that the 3,750 was excessive and waited for 37,500 miles before taking my car in for service again. My driving habits are fairly moderate, so I'm not neglecting the upkeep at all.
I plan to keep my car for at least 10 years, and I wonder if the (imo) excessive oil changes will be worth it in the long run. Until otherwise convince I'm going to stick to the 7,500 maintenance schedule.
Thoughts?

3750 is too soon if you are using synthetic IMO. The best way to go about it is having an oil analysis test done if you really want to and you can get an actual recommendation as to what oil change intervals you should do.
Personally, for my G I change it every 5k using synthetic (in between both intervals) so there wouldn't be any warranty issues. Bumper to bumper is 60k on Infinitis.
Do 3750 if you're using some low grade dino oil.

I change the oil in my car just before the oil life meter gets to 15%, which is still early. In my current car, that works out to about every 6000-6500 miles. My car uses synthetic.
Agree with Hapa, if you are using synthetic, 3750 miles is WAY early. Even if you're using Dino oil, the 3000 mile thing has long been debunked.

Dont just base the OCI on the oil itself. You also have a very important wearable item - the oil filter. Some last longer then others. What I suggest you do is take a sample of the oil at your next oil change and send it to Blackstone. They'll be able to tell you how much longer you can run the oil and filter. They will also alert you to any issues that you may not yet know about.

I do it every 4k with mobil 1 synthetic, as well as the oil filter . If anything go to 5k ? 7500 just seems like it's pushing it imo. Will it really save you tons of money to prolong the period of time between changes ? ehhh

5k miles, Castrol GTX + Purolator Pureone filter. The CL has a magnetic drain plug, the FR-S has a Filtermag. Once I hear back from Blackstone on the FR-S, I may switch to synthetic, but I like spending $16 on 5 quarts of oil. Beats $23 for the Mobil1.

The sizzle in the Steak
You can push 10k miles with full synthetic oil and a very good filter.
3700 is nuts.
7500 with synthetic is a bit too early.

Thanks all for chiming in. I've been running non-synthetic because when the car was new I read on the forums that synthetic oil caused some problems with the engine. I can't remember exactly what.
The manual states this:
Schedule 1 [3750] if you primarily operated your vehicle under any of these conditions:
... and that's with regular oil. I wonder how much thought engineers put into this? Anywho, I think I'll switch to 7500 and synthetic for a piece of mind.

- Repeated short trips of less than 5 miles in normal temperatures or less than 10 miles in freezing temperatures
- Stop-and-go traffic in hot weather or low speed driving for long distances
- Driving in dusty conditions or on rough, muddy, or salt-spread roads
- Towing a trailer, or using a camper or car-top carrier

Problems with the 3.7L? There was a valve click present on oils not using an ester package. Nissan dropped their ester requirement/recommendation sometime last year.
I think using a full synthetic with a top quality oil filter for 7500 miles is perfectly fine. Like I mentioned earlier though, if this is a subject that is super important to you, ante up for a used oil analysis.

This^. 5K is easy to remember and will keep your car running like a champ (unless you hammer it like Mikey does.
