Ahhh, there you have it. Better to be safe than sorry, good plan on returning it. Sorry to hear though. Lots of other great cars out there to be had.
#43
damn that sucks to hear. Hopefully they don't give you a hard time returning it.

Hey man, noticed you're in CT too, whereabouts.
Also sorry to hear about the S4's issues, if you end up getting your $ back, start a thread so we can suggest another car for you. Maybe a new WRX?

^^I'm located in Prospect. I'll be honest I'm hoping to get it rebuilt be cause I love the car so much. But if I do end up with something else it will either be another S4 or TL. TBH I'm not much of a WRX fan or EVO for that matter. But thanks for your advice

Damn, that sucks. Glad you found that out while you're still within your protection period. This is typically why I only buy from a dealer or a person I trust. I hope they take care of you...
#50
Damn. Sorry about the car. Hopefully the place where you bought it from will take care of you.

Well, if they rebuild it, ask them if they would be willing to work with you to rebuild it the way you want. It would be a good time to upgrade the motor with better pistons, rods, etc in hopes of someday, throwing in a supercharger.
Seriously though, sounds like an opportune time to do a proper engine build. Have them give you the money it would cost to rebuild the motor, then you go and rebuild it to your spec using better parts.

hopefully they will replace it for you, but i doubt it, it would probably be very costly for them to replace the engine.
I had an allroad with basically the same motor, and inquired about engine replacement, was quote $4k just to remove the engine...
but at least this has happened now and not when its off of warranty
i absolutely loved the 4.2L in my allroad... the exhaust note was just pure awesome, but i'm glad i got out of it before i lost any more money, was very costly to maintain. You will hate the 8L of oil changes or whatever the hell it is, and hopefully yours doesn't burn oil
i'll just leave this here
if i kept mine i was going to do some electronic cut-outs because i would love to have that sound at any time

I went to the dealership i bought the car from today and showed him the thread from auidzine. So he agreed to check the car out. He borescoped the car and did a compression test, both tests showed that the cylinder walls where not scored. He out an oil additive in and told me to keep an eye on it. I may go to Valenti Audi for a second opinion.

I actually wasn't a quart low, cause I guess when you are the oil light comes on and mine never showed up. So that was a mishap on my part lol but I'm going to bring it for second opinion.

^don't trust those idiot lights though either.
My oil pressure sensor needed to be replaced because everytime the oil got to a certain temperature the damn light came on and made its stupid sound.
But there was no problem, just the sensor was bad.
I've heard of some 4.2l's using a quart every 1000 miles or so, so keep a very close eye on it
How's the timing chain? any rattling on cold startup?

^yeah they want to say its normal so they don't have to fix it themselves, but not all 4.2L's burn oil
I only added maybe half a quart once in the 8000 miles i had mine, and i suspect that they just didn't add enough at one of the oil changes. other than that the oil was always on the full mark. And i had over 100k miles on mine
You got lucky with the timing chain then, that is one thing that concerned me with mine while i had it, and living in a place where it gets to -40F or more it was not a good issue to have when the car was left outside.

Current Audi Owner here. Wasted $0 on repairs outside of normal wear-and-tear items (brakes, tires, etc) in 57 months. Currently at just under 47K miles.
And on top of that, I've got my car tuned, upgraded to a high pressure fuel pump, upgraded to the RS4 rear sway bar, upgraded the snub mount, and upgraded the exhaust, and have a bunch of other modifications in the queue. I baby it at times, but have fun with it too. Even with all of that, still no issues. I may have jinxed myself saying all that, but I'm still enjoying my cars a hell of a lot more than you ever will. From your posts, all you ever want to see is the negative in Audi to justify your Bimmer purchase so that you can preach to others they should never buy Audi. I like how you always want to brag about how awful of an experience with Audi you had on our boards whenever someone else talks about Audi. I know a couple other people that didn't have great experiences too, but I know way more people that have had great experiences with their Audi vehicles than those that have complained.
When all you want to see is the bad, that's all you ever will see.
And to catch you before you start bashing and trolling Audi/VW in here as you have in the past on Acurazine, here are some great comments about your reputation on other enthusiast boards:
