My '57 Thunderbird restomod

I'm new on the forum. Just picked up an 06 TL 6mt for a DD.

Here is my last project from 2007-20012. I just sold it last September to get something the whole family could fit in.

I got the car in pieces from my dad. Loaded it into a box truck and took it to Georgia from Massachusetts in 07. It sat until 2009 when my FIL and I rented some space in a warehouse/ shop where we could work on it uninterrupted.

Original 57 thunderbird body on an art Morrison frame,(www.artmorrison.com). Wilwood brakes, adjustable 4 link, coilovers, 89 302 converted to carb, alum heads, e-cam,estimated 345 hp. Built AOD with lokar shifter. It was fun to build and drive, and got tons of attention. Check it out-

It was also "published" as the cover of the online edition of Auto enthusiast magazine along with a nice write up. Story starts on page 8.

Hope you guys enjoy it.

Beautiful t-bird man. I had a 1985 thunderbird when i was 16.haha It was a hideous design though, but pretty luxurious on the inside.

How many years did it take you and FIL to do the project?

I always dream about doing one someday.

It was about 4 years. There were some long breaks in between, and mostly on weekends. It was a fun project.

That art Morrison chassis was so nice. That car drove like a modern sports car. Made all the work worth it when it was done since it did not drive like a 50 year old car.

Such a beautiful car.

Pretty sure I've seen it around Cumming or Suwanee.

What engine did you have in the Cobra?

I drove the bird around alot. Went to caffeine and octane off Windward parkway a few times. It lives in Texas now. Sometimes I regret letting it go, but with 4 in the family half were left out on a cruise.

The cobra had a stock fuel injected 302 from an 89 GT mustang. It scooted pretty good. It only weighed about 2300lbs.

Yea, I think I have seen it.

Nice, that seems to be a popular choice. I imagine it would pull pretty nice.

If you do, check out www.artmorrison.com They specialize in tri 5 chevys and vette frames. They also just introduced one for the old chevy pickups too. Tons of cool projects in their galleries.

This car was my inspiration for the one I built. Found it on their site.
