I read this article... the new Bimmer 335 was on the last of the list almost on every single category (I remember the only category it was top was comfort/interior quality or some like that). It even lost on skidpad to the 3 front drivers.
I was surprised.

Im not, most of those Finalists are pure sport cars. The 335i is more of a GT.
I mean come on, it doesnt even have a LSD to be taken seriously on a track with.

The Z06 was 9th. They looked at a several aspects so its best to read the article before jumping to any conclusions.
The Lotus vid... I would like to have one of those things.

I just picked up the magazine today. Great read. For me, it is amazing to have the Si compared to cars such as the exige and the GT3. It's interesting though how the test left the original equipment tires on the vehicles. For example, the Si had Michelin Pilot Exaltos and the GT3 had Michilon Pilot Sport Cups (ridiculously expensive, bad tread wear, and are awful in even the littlest amount of rain.) The one car I would have loved to have seen would have been an '06 BMW M3 CS. The test used the EVO IX and the last gen. Mini. Why pick the 335i over the M3 CS (M-differential, better wheels, tires, steering rack, brakes and less weight)? The CS took the Exige and the Cayman S in the last ecoty too. Anyway, still a great read.
It's hilarious that the 335i is on the list at all. It's a GT, pure and simple. Comparing it to a car like the GT3 or Exige is laughable; of course they had better numbers, they are mid-engined balls-to-the-wall sports cars. The 335 straddles this funny line between "sport" and "happy-fun-not-to-offensive-daily-driver", which is does well, and is probably why it's on this list.
The shocker to me was the Z06 being 9th, was a handful as usual.
The GT3 laid a beat down on the rest, and they pointed out that Cups on the other cars would likely not have changed the outcome.
The GT3 is a near track car so one would expect serious results.

Kinda hard to drop in the dealer and buy a new CS...

They stopped producing the E46 M3. That was my point.
