Keep trying

Tell her it will be worth more if you hold on to it for longer since they are rare.

You know... I probably could keep the Vagon if I sold the FJ instead. I honestly don't want to sell either, but can't have my cake an eat it too (plus, I don't need 3 cars just for me)...

lol... plus her two and all my karting stuff? We're running out of space #firstworldproblems

Deal was new (to me) truck and toy hauler and I sell one of the vehicles. Decided on the Vagon b/c haven't used it much and I've had the FJ since day 1 (had 6 miles on it when we bought it... will be 10 years in Sept/Oct)... so more attached to that. I can also get more money for the Vagon so I can get something else I've had my eye on (UTV)... so that factored into the decision.

But I keep going back and forth. One guy was ready to go but backed out b/c he said his wife wanted white. Still have a few others interested, so we'll see. When in doubt I can always list on eBay...

Well if you have a truck for utility and her Wrangler for off roading. Sounds like to have a more well rounded stable you should keep the wagon for the beach trips still.

The other option is keep all and build an addition to your already nice and large garage. See you should have went with the 5 bay garage to start with instead of 3.

We're already penning plans to build a carriage house behind that one for my workshop.

Problem is it takes money and there's a lot just sitting in the garage.

Funny enough I just got back from looking at a toy hauler and the guy made a comment about my FJ... so you never know

Well, that toy hauler fell through (gotta love Craigslist)... so we'll see.

Good thing is the misses isn't rushing me.... yet. Tundra will be here Monday, so I'm sure when that arrives it will be a different story...

I know we tout all the great things about the V...
but I'd be very curious to hear your candid reasons why the car is NOT the "must keep" vehicle in your stable.

For serious...

It's more of an emotional thing. We've had the FJ since new, used it a few years for a business, kept it after we sold, then I took it as my personal vehicle and modified it to where I wanted it. I know the truck very well as I have done some of the mods myself and know the entire history of the truck mechanically and do a lot of the maintenance myself. Plus, it's pretty cool looking and is also a discontinued model.

I love the Vagon, but have no real attachment to it. It's an awesome car, but other than that... no real attachment to it. Plus, i can sell it for more than double I can sell the FJ for which pays for the new toys plus extra (or just extra in the bank).

It's not really a money thing as my wife said I could really sell whichever I wanted, but the attachment to the FJ is what keeps it in my mind. I can sell the Vagon and always buy another down the road. But can't do that with the FJ. I can never be the original owner from day one of another FJ.

That's my dilemma #FirstWorldProblems

That's no dilemma, that's a well thought out decision. Makes perfect sense.
Personally, I love the V, but I also have an attachment (maybe foolishly) to my 3G TL and S2000 so "to me" it is not worth losing BOTH of those driving experiences, for just having a really powerful vehicle. At least not for now...

I appreciate the response JB... I'm gonna be more flexible on sedan/wagon and manual/auto tranny...I'll only really be a stickler for the right color for me...so I'll be patient and wait until enough new styles come out to make the 2G V drop down to the mid 20's...then I'll more than likely strike.

Or not...
we're not really intended to have everything we lust after. Sometimes being financially prudent and sitting pretty and a kid college fund and maybe a pool...are worth more to us in the long run.

^ It's funny b/c I think part of the lack of the attachment to the V is the color. Seems silly but Silver was not even on my list. I just bought this one b/c it was a good deal and had every other option I wanted. I figured I could just wrap it if I wanted to change the color. I will admit that the silver has really grown on me and I do really like it... but it was not originally on my radar.

It's still something I could do relatively easily... but again, I could also just sell it and buy another down the road (possibly in a factory color I want more) allowing me to keep my FJ

My only pause is that I don't know if the Vagons will get more rare, or easier to come by and less expensive. If I could predict the future it would make it an easier decision.

Alright... guess I need to really start pushing the Caddy. Likely will start listing it on more sites after Memorial Day since these arrived this week...

Nice truck

Parts of me wants to find a nice used Tundra, but I'm not too sure about the mileage...but you don't buy a truck for the mileage

^ Yeah, you don't buy these for the mileage . Honestly on their own it's not awful for a truck... but for towing... I've read around 8-10mpg based on load weight.

With that toy hauler I'll likely be around 6000-6100 pounds loaded up... so should be closer to 10mpg. But again, I bought it for it's towing abilities, not MPG

Yeah, truck and FJ are outside for now. Once I get everything swapped over from my trailer to the toy hauler the trailer will go for sale and free up some space in the garage. Still need another garage though...

At 10mph, you should get decent MPGs, though it may take you days to get anywhere.

It's tough to not modify it. I already priced out a lift, wheels/tires, etc... but then I keep remembering it's being used for towing. Plus, the weight distribution hitch and everything is all setup for the ride height now... so I'm thinking I may leave it as is as to not mess up any of the geometry...

When I used to tow the TSX in an inclosed 24ft car hauler with my dads 2500 Suburban which made the weight around 6800-7000lbs I would get between 6-8mpg.
