J32a3 ek Civic swap!!!

Didn't find anything on any forum that talked about someone doing this type of swap into an EK Civic... and if there is one, I'm sorry but I wasn't about to go through over 20 thousand threads to find it!

for all those ppl out there who got tired bashing on this swap cus the hole on the hood looked stupid blah blah... well here I am. I'm currently finishing a J32A3 ('05 TL) swap into my 99 4dr Civic. I'm expecting to tune to 300hp+ ALL MOTOR PUMP GAS that's right!. And the best part, Hassport came out with new mounts where the engine can actually clear the HOOD!! HAA! So I'm gonna have my nice clean Civic with a V6 engine in it, and no one will ever tell!! oohh man I can't wait... this is going to be so sweet. Taking all the candy away fro evo's, sti's, TL-S', M3's, and I would even dare to say M5's too.

I will be posting vids, pix, tuning results pretty soon in about a month or so. So whoever said J-swaps into civics and integras were getting hotter, you hit it right on the nail.

Please feel free to ask me any questions if you're thinking of doing this swap or if you're in the middle of it and you're stock, I have a lot of info that can be of great help. If don't have an answer for you I can prolly direct you to the right place or tell you who to call. I spent countless hours doing research, reading different forums all over the web, talking to ppl, fighting with my wife...

My special thanks to:

Rodney from JandRNextlevelperformance.com
They have the programable ECU for the 3G TL
They will custom make the engine harness to fit your civic/integra
They have a variety of performance parts for this TL including the Turbo Kit, which I may also do... but not just yet.

To Richie from RV6, Love your new V3 Jpipe and the PCD's...

To Don from RPMsystems, that guy to me is the "J-series guru!" thank God for him and his freaking unbelieveable knowledge!

Curious to know what a civic with 300 to the wheels would run in the 1/4?

well, you know that a Civic with that much power at the take off it's going to be mostly slippin' tire... but as it grabs in third to fourth geer it's a done deal... with good tires and suspensions you can prolly reach low 11's. That's what I estimate.

there are plenty of civics with more power hooking off the line....

tires, suspension, and driving skill.

Good luck. I definitely debated this when I started building my shell but voted against it since I'll be daily driving

Itching to see 1/4 times, kill stories and pictures. Nice job...
Also, as this becomes more popular, I see us having to lock up our 3G's a little tighter at night!

I respect K's and I also love them, but to make the power a 3G V6 makes, you have to spend a lot of money... I've spent just under $8k and will be making close to 300hp if not more. How much would you have to spend on your K, to make that much power? that's what made me decide to go J.

I love the concept and love it moreso because it dares to be different (i.e.: not a boosted D series and not a B/K swap) but I'd be concerned about having to mod the suspension to mitigate the understeer.

...just came across this on FB's Honda Day's Photos:

A TL motor is said to be about 100 pounds havier then the K motor. You definitely need good suspensions, but it's not like this swap will completely ruin your everyday drive. And like you said, b/c it's just different then what everyone else have, it's why I became to fasinated about this particular swap!

Ive got a 300whp/275wtq J in my CL for ~$6k. The K20Z3 I have for the Civic has mild head work done and was dyno'd at 250/190 at the wheels - all for ~$5k including K-Pro. Another $1-2k into the motor and I can hit 300hp, but dyno numbers are meaningless to me. With slicks, my build should be in the low 12s, high 11s. Thats plenty fast for a street car. I love the J, but its powerband isn't suited for my build. Its got way too much torque for the front wheels - even for my CL.

Alright if you say so... if it worked out for you that way, then more power to you. I know my friend fully built a Type-R K from Japan, I'm talking everything you can think of all the way from bottom to top, top of the line stuff... nothing cheap Spent about $13k. He only made 265hp. That's all I'm saying.

$13,000 and fully built K series and he's making 265?

he did something wrong...

K20A.org has people pushing 300 and not spending a lot of money....

the main benefit of the J series is usually the cost for the motor itself is much lower.

not to mention that every dyno reads differently. thats why i rely on 1/4 mile times. i thought the TL board were bad with the dyno racing but the civic guys are even worse!

The Type R motor sells for $5k+ stock. Stock Z3 motors are in the $2k range. I thought about the Type R motor but its not worth paying twice as much for such a small bump in power stock.

And yea, I agree with Rockstar. Lets say he put $7k into that motor not including initial purchase price, he did something very very wrong.

Im not going to argue which engine is better. I made my choice, Im happy with it, plus I still have my J in the daily with a/c and leather. You made your choice and Im sure youre happy with it too. Post up 1/4 mile times once you hit the track.

Its sad but true. I dont give a shit about dyno numbers. The only thing the dyno is good for is gains from a mod, but even then the conditions need to be consistent. Show me real world numbers.

The fact that an engine is fully built doesnt mean much, it just means it was built to handle more power. was it built for all motor or FI?

He built it for all motor. But listen ppl, there's no need to get ahead of ourselves here. Let me finish my project I'm just waiting for my v3 j-pipe, my PCD'S from rv6 which everyone knows they're in back order... My programable ecu, engine harness and intake runners were actually shipped today from Boca Raton, FL... Once I get that, next is tuning and then my road whore will be out taking everyone's candy away... And I couldn't agree more, dyno numbers are pretty but the ones from the track are sexier... Like I said before, I'll be posting everything right in here very soon. Ok?

Who is making 300 WHP in a NA J32 right now? I thought fully bolted the engine was making 260-270 in MT trim. 300 WHP is 80 more Hp than a stock MT, seems like a lot for exhaust and a good tune. I could be wrong since I went FI instead of going a NA build.

I don't see 300 being possible with a j32a3. The j32a2 on the other hand is good for those numbers.

Sean at P2R made 302whp in his 3.2l Accord with 3" exhaust, his intake, his custom headers, and an EMS. Im at 295/275 at the wheels untuned, running rich as hell up top and with an exhaust leak - but I've got a stroked motor. Once I get my EMS and my longtube equal length headers on the car I hope to get to ~320whp.

It didn't reach the 300 as promised. Lol. 220whp (for instance stock) + Jpipe + PCD + ECU will only net 260whp- 270whp. He'll need to do runners, bigger TB, exhaust work, and some more things to reach there.
