No. Shadowline is glossy, like the type S trim. My father had and 02 M package 540iA which had the shadowline trim.

haha but seriously, BMW's are all high maintenance cars, but the M5's are in a whole different league by themselves...

I bought a 540i knowing the issues to expect and people who buy M5's hopefully know what they're getting into maintenance wise...(amazing cars nonetheless)
A friend of mine was going to pick up an M5, one owner, driven by a housewife. After I did the inspection I figured he would need to spend 3-5k getting all the engine work up to par (heads, etc). Not like that is a representation of normal wear and tear but parts and labor were a bitch.

^^My buddy has an 07 M5. One of the two oil pumps went. I forget the price but it was in 3 grand range. Brand new car. Is it sad that that wouldn't scare me away from buying one?

Not sad at all, if you know what you're getting into, more power to ya, especially if you know your way around a BMW.
