It's quite a departure from the Oddy
Here are some pics I quickly snapped.

Now what am I going to do with a heated steering wheel in SoCal![Chuckle](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/chuckle.gif)
I am so thoroughly impressed with the fit, finish, & quality of Jeep.
So many little details in the Overland Summit.
The Merc ML platform shines through in the ride quality and handling.
Steering has a very European feel. A very welcome addition to an SUV.
Shopped quite a few utes from domestic, German, Asian...but the Jeep out shined them all.

That headlight detail is pretty cool. Congrats on the pickup.
What ARE you going to do with a heated seat in SoCal?

^^I like the interior! Did they ever fix the tire blowout issue on the quick lane change maneuver?

Yes. That test was done with the vehicle over spec weight by about 200 lbs. They recreated the test at proper weight...and then tweaked the software. All fixed/improved.

What can I say, the Jeep beat everyone in my cross-shop comparo.
Beats the Explorer, Durango (didn't want to super size my SUV and it's not as refined)
Infiniti had nothing for me (didn't want to drive a sea monster)
Lexus meh...nothing exciting there.
Acura...nope...done with Honda/Acura for quite some time....poor quality between the CL-S and the Oddy.
Didn't bother with GM/Chevy.
BMW X5 was nice, almost got one, but it got very pricey when you put the features of the Overland Summit on it. Couldn't justify the cost.
I really liked the VW Toureg....really liked it...shockingly, my better half didn't.
![what](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/what.gif)
...and we are probably going to tow a watercraft with it in the future....at least that is what I am being told.
![Nervous](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/nervous.gif)
So that's kinda how it went down.
Saddle leather/black interior is gorgeous. I think was a big selling point for my better half.
Giant sunroof size is ridiculous.

Surprised you say the Durango isnt as refined...its the same chassis as the jeep...just a bit longer. I LOVED how it drives...and I didnt drive an RT with the sportier suspension. I really wanted one...but wifes car...and again we got a screaming deal to get out of the Prius.
That said. I love the jeep. Its tight, refined (as you say ;-) )and just fun to drive. And I love the Saddle leather interior.
Did you go with the pentastar or the 5.7?
And I'm still laughing that you got a Chrysler product

Its the wife car
but I have grown to like it a lot. Very nice for family road trips...though I still prefer long drives in the challenger.

They both drove real nice...the R/T a bit rough over choppy pavement.
In terms of refined, the interior of the Dodge...although similar to the Jeep, was not as nice in terms of some of the materials and the design differences.
The Overland Summit adds so much more "higher end" tweaks/options on the interior that really push it over the top when compared to the Durango.
Plus, when it came down to it, another row of seats was not needed....never used them much in the Oddy.
I dunno why you
![Chuckle](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/chuckle.gif)
I still feel the same way about the Challenger interior being a subpar design. I sat in a few in the show room.....the materials are TOP NOTCH...no doubt about it it. The interior design layout is such a let down...IMHO. I've seen old Buick's that had more interior flare in terms of design....well maybe that's a bit overstated....but you get what I am saying.
The vans have a piss poor looking interior too.
The 300 interior...especially on the SRT8....good gravy it's phenomenal.
Chryco is like Ford was a few years back.....some of the product is getting the better and excellent interior designs and materials....others (like the Mustang) will get it soon/later. Look at the new Fusion interior design...then sit in the Mustang...night and day designs.....You can see the old guard versus the new guard on the interiors......same for Chryco with the Challenger V the 300, or the Grand Cherokee.
One man's opinion.
Here's a funny sidebar....one salesman told me the Challenger is being killed next year....while another at the same dealer told me the Challenger is getting a redesign next year, and they are adding a Cuda.
![Chuckle](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/chuckle.gif)
Salesmen are the most uniformed people when it comes to cars....regardless of brand. Find quite a few "tools" on the BMW lots when I bought my 3er.

You've been saying they are getting better but are not there yet...I even think you said the new 300 looked like a rental car inside
![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
The design of the challenger is, of course, objective. I like it. Its minimalist, simple, and doesn't detract from anything else. I like it and its very comfortable to me.
I actually like the new minivan interiors
![Shrug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif)
I agree with your comments on the jeep interior vs the durango. While I like the durango's inside a lot...the jeep is a class higher (but jeep was always set up that way)
No one knows whats happening with the Challenger...its going til at 2015 as far as we all know. Then, it either dies or gets a redesign.
All rumors have pointed to a SRT brand only Cuda based on Alfa chassis (smaller/lighter) and without the retro styling...actually that much has been confirmed.
There are even rumors the Durango goes away after 2014/15 and they turn it into a new Jeep Grand Wagoneer (fingers crossed)
