Interesting woofer placement on the RSX-S

I was reading about the RSX the Acura web page and found something interesting. They mounted a woofer inside the spare tire. Have you ever seen that on a stock system? Now if that thing had navi, I'd really be interested.

This is close:
The only production car that comes to mind is the 93-96 redesigned Mazda RX-7. The labrinth Bose subwoofer chamber moulded itself around the perimeter of the trunk and spare. Good bass, bad if someone plows into your ass end.

I usually do not like factory subwoofers though, and I really don't expect much from the RSX subwoofer (100 Watts)

wait a year, and JL audio will come out with a custom 3-sub box to fit the spare tire well. They have one for my 98 GSR.

I hate to revive this old thread, but I was doing a search on spare tire subwoofers and this came up. Here's a decent pic of the RSX's spare tire subwoofer -

Pioneer used to make an aftermarket item just like this, model TS-WX50, that would have been a good fit for our CL's...

Any news on the S2000 sub?

Dude, do not sweat that thing.

The factory RSX-S system is TERRIBLE.

phil2 hasn't modified his audio yet and it sounds like absolute fucking shit.

there is NO bass... NO bass at all. That subwoofer may as well not even be there... AND THATS IN A HATCHBACK.

In a CL you really would feel nothing.

Everything about the audio system in that car is terrible... it sounds as bad as some shit from a '89 Range Rover.

Fucking speakers sound like their tin foil.

Im with Soopa. My friend has an RSX-S and that sub makes no noise at all. We put our hands on the sub and dont even feel a vibration. That sub is just a useless paper weight.
