I'd rather have a car whose tranny won't fail on me as I'm driving, causing me to wreck and cripple myself

Your dumb...very dumb
Glorified Nissan or Honda?
At least Nissan doesn't leave THE NISSAN on the glass of Infinities or parts as well like Honda has stamped all over the Acura panels, windows, etc. lol

Unlike 95% OF THE HONDAS with 5 speed trannys dropping like flies causing a big ass recall.
The new TL is failing as well. Just wait till yours does.

JUST IN- CHECK THIS OUT. Infiniti 154 problems per 100 cars, Acura 102 per 100 cars.

What bogus facts? Nothing is bogus, when Nissan is rated higher than Honda in reliability and service! You seem to me making up alot of shit.

After numerous test drives, here's what we liked and disliked about each:
Pros G35
- Exterior styling, especially the coupe
- Power and torque
- Cornering grip
Cons G35
- Interior styling
- Interior control feel/function
- Interior space
- Low-grade interior materials
- Stiff clutch
- Balky shifter
- Expensive once you add options
- Loud exhaust
- A little loud inside
- Insurance rates
Pros TL
- Exterior Styling
- Interior styling
- Interior space
- Quality feel of overall product
- Gas mileage
- Cornering grip with HP tires
- Silky smooth clutch and shifter
- Familiar control feel (I own Hondas)
- Value
- Standard options
- Insurance rates
- Very hushed interior
- Smooth ride
Cons TL
- Difficulty in buying one at a fair discount
- Using DVD-A format instead of Super Audio CD (sounds better)
- Smallish trunk
Overall I loved the G35, and planned to buy one...till I drove a TL, and then drove the G35 again. When we looked at the G35 for the second time, we looked at the interior, and the price with options, and it was downhill from there. In the end, we felt like the TL was worth the money, and the G35 wasn't. If they upgrade the G35 interior to something close to a $35K vehicle, the competition would be closer.

Okay, I've been hanging out on this forum for a couple of months now, and anyone who has been on it knows I have not said ONE bad thing about the TL. And I still am on record as saying I like the car.
But I am getting very annoyed at how the TL owners think the G35 sedan is downright ugly. And I admit the G35 - which I own, is not perfect. But I think it's about time we put this "ugly" thing into perspective. When the new TL came out, I read many opinions on forums and letters to magazines that the back of the car looks like a Pontiac that was rearended by a semi. Now that's not my opinion, but I think it's about time you guys got a taste of your own medicine here. Cause I really don't think those comments were meant to be a compliment.

Invested in body integrity. David Champion of Consumer Reports says Hyundais now have far fewer squeaks, rattles and clanks after three to four years of ownership, ranking with the industry's best. Hyundai says cabins are quieter, brake noise has been reduced, and ride and handling scores are up because suspension tuning has produced stiffer, Japanese-like rides.
Maybe Acura should use them to fix the TL cabin?

Jesus who cares, I can't believe you're coming onto a TL boards to argue how your G35 is better. It is 100% subjective, and because of that no one on these boards is going to say the TL isn't as good... WE ALL OWN A TL. If you want to break your arm patting yourself in the back I recommend you do it on a Fresh Alloy, not here.

"Your car's ugly......is not.....is too........is not.......is too!" Sheesh.......grow up. I think I'll go climb into my quiet, smooth GREAT-LOOKING RRP TL and go for a ride while the children sit in front of their computers and argue! Didn't we buy these cars to DRIVE?

I think the G35 would be great at initial quality, and then drop off a cliff once the interior is "broken in".
Just to give everyone here some perspective, you are arguing/discussing this with SilverBulletCLS, who has the following car purchasing history:
1) 1996 Maxima auto
2) 1998 Maxima manual (Wanted a 5-speed)
3) 1999 Trans Am manual (Wanted more power)
4) 2000 Maxima auto (Back to wanting reliability after LS1 motor issues)
5) 1991 Sentra SE-R (To be used for track purposes)
6) 2001 Sentra [To consolidate payments/save money along with buying 5)]
7) 2001 Maxima manual (In a few months, all kinds of money must have been saved; but denied warranty after racing)
x) 2002 Jetta 1.8T (Ordered but did not purchase after having manhood made fun of)
8) 2002 Acura CL-S auto (Cracuras ROCK!; blew tranny, couldn't fit 17" CRT in back seat)
x) 2002 Chevy Trailblazer (Returned after a day of ownership)
9) 2003 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro manual (minor accident, realized/perceived it was/would be unreliable, couldn't haul cargo, BLAH BLAH BLAH, traded)
10) 2003 Pathfinder LE 4x2 (July 2003, big accident shortly thereafter)
11) 2004 Infiniti G35 6spd
Countdown to 12) 2005 Acura TL 6 spd: < 7 months

Guys!! My friend Rodney asked if we could all just get along!?!
This thread is confrontational beyond reason. We're comparing the TL and G35S not an M5 vs E55 OR 911 GT3 vs 360 Modena.
Both the TL and G35S are mass-produced sedans and are more than likely stepping stones for us to reach the M5/E55 level. Buy the friggin thing(s), run it for 3-5 years, save some money (in the meantime) then upgrade when the time comes. They're not collector's items for goodness sakes!!

I don't know about you guys, but im 25 years old. This is my first "real" car, and I will be stepping up after 3 years or so.(hopefully)
Majority of people here probably wanted somthing like the BMW or AUDI or even MERCE....but didn't feel comfortable spending all that money....well one thing I know is that people like to "upgrade", not the other way around.
Drive and have fun, then Step it up to somthing better.
can't wait to join the bimmer forum.
