I am in the process of selling my 94 vr4 for a 2004 tl (kid already left his deposit). That car is just too expensive for me, I was getting 12 mpg around town, and they dont even make parts for the transmission anymore... Anyway I got alot of money for it, but still had more into the car. That thing does some nice launches at 6500 rpm . Anyway, heres my tribute to the 3000's.

Yea. Maybe an evo would be nice, but they are all stripped. I like the tl. My sister ran a 12.5 @109 in her evo, only downpipe, intake, flashed ecu and 27lbs of boost . A new 3000 vr4 would be nice, but the 99's are still $24-45k. Still not worth it, they look nice and are fast, def. not reliable for a daily driver.

^^^ That is HOT!!! Out of the Japanese GT cars of its time (exc. Nissan Skyline R33/R34), the 3KGT VR4 is still my favorite. Stateside, it was the only one of its 'ilk' to effectively double as both a solid GT car AND a capable touring coupe.

No Acura ?? :shakehead

Figured you've been around here so long, some of acura fandom would have rubbed off on you

Nice choice in cars... I guess they are running some deals on the 06's ?? At least you didn't buy something like a PT cruiser

my dad might work at the dealership where the car was, and hemight have sold the car to me wholesale for no profit to the dealership.

I thought about an Acura, but for the price ranger of a newer used CL or TL (like 2002-2003) i get a 2006 with low miles..

and hopefully not the tranny problems of the CL. im done with tranny problems.

You are aware that your are buying a Chrysler?!? AFAIK, their history with failed auto trannys is more illustrious than Honda.

The infamous Chrysler Tranny problems youre talking about is mainly the 41TE which has gone into most Chrysler cars and vans since the 90s. Its not the same in the Magnum. Not to mention a large part of the problems were associated with servicing with the wrong fluid and not the Chrysler recommended ATF+4.

In any case, her '06 should last a while trouble free.

You couldve gotten an Acura but it wouldve put you back with the space problem you had with the 3000.

Name another car that gets good mpg, has the ability to be modded easily, and has the space to cart around her zoo on a whim for less than 20k.

Besides an SUV the Magnum was her best bet.

I believe the tranny in the magnum is via the last gen E class merc....and merc trannies are known to be pretty good.

Ahh... I see... Now that you mention it, I remember you saying that your dad might be working in an auto related field when you had your mitsu tranny problems...

What's the specs on this one ?? For 20K, I'm guessing it's the 190hp 2.7V6 RWD version...

Edit: Hope you feel better soon Rach...

yeah, im actually suprised at the pep it has considering the hp and torque.

sad to say but i dont have the money time or enthusiasm as I once did for cars. Im sure itll come back once I have more money, but damn this growing up and being responsible.

theres so much cargo space in this car its incredible.

and I still feel freaking horrible. The only thing ive managed to keep down is pedialyte and thats some nasty grape flavored salt water.

Im dying of thirst but if I indulge in gatorade, I lose it.

and Ive noticed daytime commercials have a large amount of food commercials that make me want to hurl.

not to mention my right eye muscles have been twitching constantly since this all started. about ready to gouge my eyeball out.

Someday I'd love to get a 96 3000GT VR4 Spyder (what a mouthful) - folding hardtop = the shit! Also, I believe it had a 320hp 6 cyl, with a 6speed, and 4WD with 4 wheel steering. Adaptive suspension. That thing was a BEAST - just wish it was better put together.

you forgot to mention the twin turbo

the spyders are extremely over priced. and, if you have a problem with the mechanics of the convertible, its a bitch and extremely costly to repair.
and its a mitsu, so its going to have problems

That's only the five speed in the Hemi. In any model lower than that, it's a 4-speed without autostick

not to mention its weight (isnt it almost 4k lbs?)

Congrats on your new purchase! Are you at least going to throw some rims on it?

I guess that's for the new MY, when I was looking at them (last year), only the 5.7l V8 came with the five speed, which eventually was the reason I didn't get a Magnum (didn't want a four speed slushbox)

They are really well built. Over 12 years, and the car does not have one squeek or rattle, like the tl does already at 2 years.
