Not that rentals are all treated that way, but I'd never buy a used rental.
Sort of like the 2017 Porsche that had 5 owners already. Owners with short term ownership in mind tend to not look after their cars very well.
My late father-in-law always bought used cars from rental agencies to save $$ for retirement. Every one of the cars I experienced with him were pure crap.
Had a neighbor get 2 from Enterprise, IIRC. A Dodge Stratus and a Camry.
The Camry was fine, and for a beater to run around inner Houston, not a bad choice.

Reminded me when I went to college in Atlanta and my cousin Autocrossed. A guy ( think he was from Finland) on work assignment would bring his rental to the events. I think he said he does rallies back at home, anyways the torture those econo tires endured was comical. One day he had a golf loaner, the amount of daylight he got under the rear inside tire was crazy.

I feel that way more about M cars or Audi S cars and AMG.
obviously 5 owners over 5 years is a red flag, but I feel like Porsche people generally care more about the car.
I used to race a stock Saturn SL2 sedan, automatic. Fun beating kids with 'daddy's money' in a lesser car.

At the end of the day is was the Golf, about 0.1sec to my dad in my Saturn, another .1-.2 to me in the Saturn, then 5 seconds to 4th in a V6 Mustang

Unfortunately many do not care about their cars which is at times understandable since they are used as tools to get groceries, take the kids to whatever, etc. And rentals are also usually the case; they are a business to make money and some renters do not care.
I look after all my vehicles to the extreme including my daily drivers. This is my 1999 Honda CR-V that I bought new and sold in October 2013 to a Porsche friend as a daily driver when it was 14 years old with 152,000 miles. It is now 24 years old with 205,000 miles...and my friend thought he was going to get 3 to 5 years out of it. Note the driver's side carpet after 14 harsh Canadian winters. My current daily driver RDX get the same care.
Of course the Porsches and motorcycles get even more care.
Niagara PCA requires windows down and yes, even if it's raining like it was yesterday.
Thats an issue I would have with leather and Alcantara seats in my GTS in the rain. Even without rain, there is no need to have the windows open with one-touch electric windows and turn signals to signal. I found the drivers on the track quite clued in.
The instructor got to keep his window up, apparently it's a in-case-you-crash kinda thing for the driver's side. It's pretty unnerving to see the water coming in your car as you flash around the track. Thankfully there was only one session out of 4 where it was actually raining.

‘I was wondering about the window since some of the shots had window up. Yeah, we were given the same reason for windows down (driver extraction in case of accident). Luckily Autocross allowed windows up in the rain though, never did track in the wet.
Tracking in the wet was a lot of fun. Had to avoid the painted Ines for pit in/ou, stay off the painted kerbs, and run on the side of the track in multiple places where the track is beveled higher than the normal racing line.
only time I went “hard” in the wet was Autocross they had on a runway. Speed was still limited (highest I got was no more than 80mph) but the concrete had decent grip after a few runs. But if you were offline by a tire’s width, you skated in the sludge
im not sure I’m brave enough to be on track in the rain yet.
I only had 2 instances out of 4 sessions where the car got slightly squirrelly. It was a little scary at first but the car never did something I didn't expect or was prepared for.
