the backup cam will have to be routed via a split signal, one to your oem screen up front and one to a recorder in the trunk. im not sure if the camera actually turns off when the car is put in drive, but most likely it doesnt and the monitor just switches inputs when you put it in D. if the latter is the fact then you splitting the signal upstream will yield cheap and easy recording and nothing but black when the car is off. set the video recorder to connect to the power signal from your headunit (the signal that turns on the amp) and you wont have to worry about turning anything on and off.

ive been on forums for years; only the ones taken over by little kids have immature comments. to be honest, if someone asked me a question and told me it was personal, then i would just answer his/her question and move on. im just trying to ascertain something that is personal, and thought some of Azines members could help me out. most of the members on here are over 20 and have decent jobs and cars. i wouldnt really expect them to NOT understand, but i was wrong.

thats interesting, but is the backup cam guaranteed to stay on once the transmission switches out of reverse?

With stuff like this, you're going to get a mix of serious and joke answers. It's not too hard to tell which is which, so you can pretty easily ignore those that you don't like.

Also, the more information you give us about the situation you (and your car) are in, the more we will be able to help you.

if you want a getto solution that I can come up with, buy a reverse Dom's unit which can transfer the signal from the navi drive into an RCA cable, and go old school with a VCR in the back, and just leave it to record everything. Once your done take the tape out a you have where the car went.

OR

take a pin-hole camera, mount it in the front grille and hook it up to record. Hooking it up, i don't know, but i'm sure someone here can tell you.

Im assuming this was directed at me? If you look in the link i posted it monitors VIA gps, It is a hidden system. It can tell you where it is, track where its been, not just shut the car off. There are a bunch of options now for cars that many parents are using to keep track of their children.

You may have been on forums for years ( ), but obviously not on Acurazine. Age has nothing to do with the type of responses you get sometimes, boredom does... and we have some bored members who hang out here quite a bit...

Oh and just to stay on-topic... the link fsttyms1 posted is interesting. I read through some of the site...looks good and may be a good alternative to a hidden camera.

More information also helps 2 things:

To possibly assist HIM better.

To know he isnt trying to pull some shady shit and we suddenly become an accessory.

If that makes me immature or unable to answer the question the way he wants, tough shit.

...the kind of info youre needing would involve a camera on the inside and outside of the car... or at least inside at an angle where it gives and interior and minor exterior views...correct?

...might be able to mount something small at the rear speakers and then lock the trunk somehow so all the recording equipment is secure... then you could use digital or traditional recording...plus if its at nite you can rock a nite vision mini cam...which would be my 1st choice if your car is missing at night... its a bummer, but might have to cut the edge of your speaker grille and remove the speaker... or place a really small cam in one of your front speaker grilles with it mounted so that the drivers side is showing... and of course the speaker will have to be removed....

... just a few ideas... hope it helps.... trust and love is everything....

i feel bad for you that you have to go through such situation. i guess you can't trust the people around you eh (even people on internet). give people a little trust and tell us what happen then maybe we can advise you a better alternative ( other than spying whoever you want to spy)
