You can buy black boxes for your car. Not sure if it'll have a video hook up, but it'll tell you exactly where, when, how fast, etc... and you can monitor it from the computer

Simple gps transmitter. Some insurance companies offer them for a small monthly fee.

Do lend your car out?

I dont get the point of wanting a video log of every mile your car moves. You can just get a mileage log from staples for under two bucks.

I was hoping this wasn't for video, because that would be pretty complex, so spy cam and gps, with data logger? If I knew that was in the car I was driving.........shit I dont think I'd ever drive that car......creepy.

I'm kinda thinking by this point we can assume he wont tell us.

Well in this case just look at spy cam websites, I found a few, but nothing perfect for what you want and reasonably priced. If you dont need to see the interior you could put a pin hole cam in the front of the a-pillar. I would think, the GPS route is much simpler than video. I work on rc stuff, so I know a bit about the complexities that go into not only just recording the video, but sending it live. If you just record this is pretty simple, just get a nanny cam, they'll record a days worth of activity on a SD card. If you couldn't completely hide it, you could come up for an excuse for this mysterious black box on the dash board. Not sure what? buy a gps and say that is the antenna.. I'll look around some more.
----------------
There actually was a case near me where a woman installed a GPS black box device like the one I had linked into her husbands car, thought he was cheating, well it was worse. He drove their babysitter home decided to try to rape her, wasn't happening, so she fled and he ran over her, several times, you can guess where this is going, was a pretty much open and shut case. sorry if anyone got sick from reading that, I kno I was when I read it in the paper.

thanks for the info. yah i just want basic video recording. it doesnt have to be live. as long as i can watch the video at a given time. something simple, but can record several hours (around 6-10 hours).

and thats sick lol. i have completely different motives than the rapist cheating mentally retarded husband.

here's a pretty cool cam, if you could mount this on the front of the car, maybe in the grill or such, would work, might not be too good in the rain though. The real tricky part of this isn't the cam or the recorder, it's where do you put it? Exterior no problem, but interior, I can see in front of the rear view mirror, A-pillar, dome light.

someone mentioned what the police use, but this wont work, those are for short recordings.
This one here is motion sensitive and can record, 6-10hrs on a SD card.. what you see here is what you have to hide
http://www.spytechs.com/spy_cameras/...sphere-cam.htm

1.5" cubic.

not a bad price for what it is...check out the rest of this site, theyve got some neat cams, this one just seems like it could be the easiest.

then go to staples, get a mileage log book for 2 bucks. And keep track of your miles by hand.

Next time you find your miles not matching up you know who to confront and you have proof.

why does it matter so much where the car is going, and not so much who is driving it?

Full details, there's no need for covertness.

That still doesn't tell him where it went. I think he wants to find out without having to confront anyone first

Then, he needs to keep his keys with him at all times.

He is being too quiet with certain details.

Shared with a sibling? I could be wrong but I highly doubt he paid for the car in full by himself and thus he has to share the car with someone else in the family. Not that there's anything wrong with it but thats the one reason I'm coming up with besides the whole cheating gf thing.

Last piece of the puzzle... focus a video camera on your parked car. Then you can see who gets into it and ask them what the hell is up. Then you can beat the person who's taking it until they tell you where they've been going. Or you can stake out your own car in another car and follow it. Both ways are much cheaper and easier.

Easiest way to solve this is to just keep your keys with you...

Exactly. AZ deserves to know the truth, we've worked hard to help with this case.

it would be pointless to just cut it off or that kinda stuff.. he wants to go undetected and find out what this person is DOING, obvoiusly is important if they are gonna snag his car without asking and be sneaky.. good luck with the bust!! ha

I'm confused, I feel like I'm the only one here addressing his actual question. which is how to record video without the person knowing. Why cant we just stick to that? Guy wants video and as previously said it seems like a sensitive issue, so lets try to answer the question instead of questioning him. Just trying to get this thread on track.

May be able to do a two pronged solution. Mount a small motion dectecting cam in the car to record when someone gets in. I do remember seeing some gps device that parents could use for their kids cars. You put the device in the car, and then can track their location by logging in to the manufacturers website. This may cost you a few bucks, but if you want to stalk silently you may have to fork over the money.

i dont understand why people want to know about my reason. you guys dont know me so it wouldnt really make a difference FROM YOUR POINT OF VIEW if you knew or not. its a personal issue. i dont want my personal life on the internet. i thought you guys would be more than willing to help, but i guess i was wrong.

but for those who did actually help and understand, thank you very much; i appreciate it.

Is the car being taken for ride from your house or apt.
If yes -> When parked at yor place is it visible from a one of the windows
If yes -> you can put a decent webcam and record on to laptop to see who is taking it.

I think you need to realize that posting something like this on a public forum is going to get quite a bit of action asking as why you need to do something like this. If you honestly didn't expect that you need to spend more time on internet forums.

Some people will help, others will be nosy, some will be both. It's par for the course.
