I've been looking at the Tc and before test-driving one, I had a couple of questions.
Is the quality/reliability on par with Toyota?
and
Are prices negotiable or do they sell for MSRP?

I went to a dealer and test drove one before. They say the price isn't negotiable, I don't know if thats true or not. But I remember them saying that they price the cars a percentage over the cost and do not negotiate to make it an easier buying process.

i bought an xB a couple weeks ago. and yeah its as reliable as a toyota. quality is good. tC uses the same 2.4 as the camry. i know my xB is made in japan i think the others are too. and yes they have a no-haggle type policy. the price you see is the price you pay. the easiest car buying experience ive had.

its shouldnt be hard to believe if you want to buy an xB. many dealerships dont have many in stock so you're stuck ordering it and waiting 90 days. i notice they do have more xA's and tC's on the lot though. there might be a few dealerships that will take a couple hundred off but i'd say probably 95% of them stick to the msrp

My sister bought a Scion Tc under MSRP. Quality is up to Toyota standards (very high). Go to www.fitzmall.com and hit the Scion button to see the cars and prices they have.
My friend has the tC and it's a great little car. Interior materials are all nice, and it drives very well for the price. Doors are solid and heavy, and the car is packed with features like the auto climate control, driver knee air bag, moonroof, etc. Highly reccomended.
I have the xB, quality is excellent. It's just as good as Toyota. The tC is a nice car too, I was considering it, but wanted the utility, and wasn't fond of 2 doors in general. As for buying the car under MSRP, I paid MSRP for it, and the dealer wrote me a check for a couple hundred dollars, so technically I got it for 300 under MSRP. The dealer told me that all of the deals get audited by Toyota to make sure that the cars are sold for MSRP. I don't know what happens if they don't get sold for MSRP though.. I was able to get a check back from them because I'm a car dealer/broker, so the check was made out to my company in the form of a "commission" check, as if I sold the car to someone (myself). I don't know how dealers would list in the contracts that it was sold under MSRP.

i heard something like that too. if they sell them for below msrp that dealership would get less car shipments/inventory in the future
I bought my tC in April. I now have just less than 6k miles. I LOVE my car. It is such a great car and at that price it's unbeatable. It is absolutely the quality of a Toyota... It IS a Toyota... Renamed, of course. I have no regrets. I couldn't be happier with my purchase..
As far as the buying process and negotiating... They are not going to budge.. no matter where u go. It was a part of the idea in the making of Scion. Its a no haggel deal. It's cut and dry. The car is worth well over what it sells at in ny opinion. I don't think it should make a difference. You should still feel like you got a deal when you drive off in a car you love... I do...
Here's mine...
Good Luck!

The rates have been going up.....When I first ordered my car, the rate through Toyota Motor Credit was 4.75% for tier 1+ (730+ score). When my car came in and I was ready to sign, it jumped to 4.95%. I confirmed the rates as well, so it's not like they tried to bump me on the rates (i'm in the car business). Every month the rate seems to go up a bit. I believe it's up to 5.95% for 60 mos through Toyota Motor Credit. Generally the finance rates have sucked. Even if you went to a third party bank, you wouldn't see much of a difference compared to the manufacturer banks.
