One person was injured this morning when a sport utility vehicle crashed into a school bus on the Near Southside.
No children were on the Indianapolis Public Schools bus when it collided with the SUV at Terrace Avenue and Madison Avenue, north of Manual High School, at 10:19 a.m., according to Marion County police dispatch.
Police closed Madison Avenue near Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive while firefighters worked to extricate the driver of the SUV out of the vehicle, dispatch said.
The victim was awake and transported to an area hospital, dispatch said. The victim’s name and condition were not immediately available.
Mary Louise Bewley, spokeswoman for IPS, said the bus had dropped off students at Manual shortly before the accident. The driver did not have any serious injuries, Bewley said.

How the hell did they make it out of there without any serious injuries?? That is truely amazing judging by those pics I would have guessed whoever was in the hummer died they are so lucky.

So, by seeing this, does it show proof that SUV's are about as safe as cars? But, that school bus is built like a tank, wow! We need that bodysheet metal they use on buses to put on cars dang.

no matter how solid the Hummers are, unless it's H1, the H2 and H3 are still SUVs...
School bus are made for safety and I'm glad it stood its ground against a Hummer in that kinda crash.
School Bus 1
Hummers 0

BTW, for the H2 haters, the MPG is actually more than what the suburban and Tahoe gets (around 17mpg), but no vehicle will win in a crash vs a school bus. For those of us who actually take H2s off road, there is no comparison to anything else, except maybe the H1 or non-stock Gwagons. There are idiot drivers in every single car class, I watched someone in a TL try and race a vette the other day in rush hour traffic.

Hmmm, I know plenty of Jeep owners that would quibble with that statement...
^^ That's great, but most of the folks I see driving Hummer's are poseur tough guy wannabe's and rarely, if ever take their vehicle off-road. If you truly need an off-road vehicle, get a Jeep - they're lighter and more maneuverable.
Once again, I suppose it depends on where you live, and I have seen my fair share of soccer moms in H2s. According to GM, only 20% are likely to ever see off-road conditions. According to GM, only 15% of Covette z06s will ever see the track...never the less, they are both engineered for and excel at their respective environments (track and off road).
Jeeps are fun "Toys" I have had 3 over my lifetime and I loved all of them. Their ride quality sucks on road, and they are great platforms to upgrade, but its not something you can take business clients out in, while still being able to wheel on the weekends. I still own one currently. Most jeep owners I know though clubs love the abilities of the H2, its apples and oranges though compared to the Jeep.
You cannot buy a stock Jeep (even Rubicon), Fj cruiser or any other vehicle short of a G-wagon that has the same off the show room capability. The H2 club where I live go out about 3 to 4 times a year to different places across the country for some pretty intense wheelin. Land Rover does the same with its owner groups.
Its all subjective, but until youve actually riden in an H2 or H1 offroad, you cant really make those assumptions. The platform shares very little with the suburban not tahoe other than very basic frame and engine (305HP vortec).
Like I said before, I am in the wrong place to try and defend this vehicle, it's just funny to see how little some people know about something before they form an opinion. If I had done that, I would have never switched from my BMW to a Acura.
