I like my car a lot. The only issues I have are:
- lame lame lame Bose stereo
- spotty Bluetooth connection (I think there's a SB about it though)
- wish it had a little more gut (maybe should've looked at the M45?)

Let me know if you have any other questions - I'm still learning about the car too...
Thanks!

I've driven a few M35x's but I just do not want AWD. M45 is an option too. I may wait it out a little longer to see what the prices are going to be like once they come off lease. It's been 3 years since they came out now, so there should be some more 06's coming on the market soon.

Glad you like the car

WOW! That's even cheaper than a 2006 RL with similar miles.

And here I thought that the RL had worse resale value than other cars in its class.

In any case, I love the M35, almost bought one new, for $17k you'd better doooo eeeeet (pending real condition).

Maybe I should be looking at a used M45 if prices have fallen that much....

If you don't mind the MPG, the M45 would be sweet.

Can you elaborate on the lame BOSE audio system? Do you have the regular 8 speaker BOSE system or the 14 Speaker one that came with the higher end package?

Just curious

Apparently I have the 14 speaker set up because I have the Tech package. As with every Bose system known to man, the highs aren't particularly bright and the lows are poor as well.

They have this thing called "Centerpoint" and I just think it's gimmicky. I have it disabled and I think it sounds better but then again, I don't listen to DVD Audio so maybe it sounds better with that format?

I came from a Volvo stereo and it was noticeably better in sound quality even without a dedicated subwoofer. The system in my wife's XI is definitely better too.

I'll eventually throw in a 10in sub with amp and hopefully take some strain away from the factory amp. We'll see.

The Bose system in my FX is awful too.
I'm planning to swap out the front and rear speakers with new Alpine's as well as a 12" Alpine Type R in back...

I rented a PT Cruiser in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and the bass hit harder (granted with tons of rattle) than the M's. Me and the wife looked at each other and were totally surprised.

Good to see so much love for the m35. I'm also planning to sell my TL since my tranny recall will be up in April. I've been looking around for an 06' m35 sport. Do the sport models only have aluminum trim? I see a couple of sport models with woodgrain trim. Which do you guys prefer?

Thats weird. I really like the Bose system in my G37. Could use a little more volume I suppose, but the two 10" subs in the doors really hit hard.....

I think woodgrain is an option if you get the sport package. Otherwise, the sport package comes with the aluminum.

I prefer the aluminum myself but the woodgrain def makes the interior look more luxurious.

Yeah, those weren't an option in the FX...
I've driven my friends G37S several times and the stereo in that car is FAR superior to my FX. The factory iPod connector is handy too.

ive loved these cars since the first time i saw one fly by me when i was doing 90 on i5 in my old integra.

they are smooth, powerful, sporty, everything.
the closest thing i could afford that was similar was a tl-s which is why i got it.

I just went to service my G35 coupe yesterday and they have some great deals on these cars at the dealership.

I'm thinking about trading in my CL S 6spd for an M35/45. We need something with 4 doors and I like the features you get for the $$

Have you had any issues with the car? Does the lack of power between the
M35 and M45 bother you alot?

It looks like it would struggle moving all that weight with the same engine that comes in my coupe.

Overall, I really do like the M35 other than the issues I noted before. It's definitely not going to be as fast as a G and there's not much you can do about it as far as aftermarket performance enhancements.

Would an M45 do the trick? Maybe. I haven't had a chance to drive a 45 a lot but we are talking about a 60hp (?) difference. Then you'll have to decide if the 45's 14-15mpg is worth it for you though. I get 17mpg in mixed driving.

Good luck with your decision!

Cool to see she is still treating you well. I like those Halo lights. Are the stock ones that bad?

they look like they produce a little too much light...
try and see if there are any pics of them working on actual M's, it'll give you a better idea of what they look like.
and are you buying the headlights already done with the halos, or are you cracking yours yourself?

edit: have you thought about going a different color other than blue...especially since your M is black, have you seen this setup with red halos?
there is a member on here that did it to his TL and it looks absolutely devilish, and oh so

I don't have the cajones to crack open the assembly myself. I'd probably just send them into the vendor and have them do it.

I didn't think of getting them in red. Hmmm...that would be quite interesting. I'll have to check if that's illegal in WA state.

...i didn't mean to have them on all the time, more of a showpiece, since halos aren't exactly fuctional anyways...
but i guess my intentions may be different than yours
..to each their own
might want to check out if they would actually do the work to your headlights and how much they would cost to have it all done...

any updates on the M again? anything you've really loved or really hated?
just wondering as i'm considering getting one in a year or two, and i want to make sure it would be a good investment

if i were to do it, i'd have them wired up to run as DRL's since the M doesn't have any from the factory

still a good car nonetheless - no one thing that makes me regret getting it. i do like the fact that i don't see many around where i live so i feel it's more exclusive than even a 5 series. it also feels good seeing that it took top ranking from 2006 to 2008 for its class in consumer reports.

i don't think you'd be disappointed!

OP,

Did you ever end up getting snow tires? Is it possible to get a set w/out TPMS sensors to run them on the M?

Looking at another M, M45 this time.

A 2007 M45 w/tech has been calling my name as well...

And since my commute was recently shortened from 35 miles to 13, I couldn't care less about MPG's at this point.

^I still care about MPG's but a couple here and there aren't going to kill me.

EPA rates M45 at 17/23. Nothing I'm not used to in my RL, my old GS, my TL

You wouldn't think it, but changes like that in life really can change your perspective on things. I know exactly what your talking about. Many years ago, I went from a 40 mile commute to a 5 mile commute, thus not making mpg a big priority anymore.

Unfortunately, I only had that job for a few years and have gone back to a semi-longer commute so mpg has become a slight factor again.

I think I could squeeze 20 MPG's mixed driving in a M45, which I would be more than happy with. Hell, after a couple of seafoam procedures and regular M1 oil changes in my FX35, I'm averaging 19.5 after 60k miles.

I ended up just getting a set of Pilot All Seasons. I haven't seen any snow yet so I can say whether or not this was a good idea.

I'm not sure what would happen if you don't get the TPMS sensors. I do know that one of my sensors died and I get a warning tone (lasts about 15 seconds) every time I start my car. Annoying as hell to hear it and to think I have to spend another $50+ for the sensor.

M45 is
I drove a ton for my line of work so the 45 was out of the question. Would've been sweet though!

Well you can kiss those numbers goodbye if you get the M45. I get 19 with mixed driving.

^Oh I know.

I ended up picking up an 05 TL since that M45 was bad news.
