The front plate just slapped across the grilles like that that looks horrendous!

It's actually very impressive when you consider how inconsistent other carmakers have been over that same period of time. BMW has had the Bangle Butt and whatever the fuck this is, Acura had the beak, Lexus' hourglass grilles were controversial, Infiniti once made the QX56. The list goes on.
Yah.... plenty of times. I used to work for Audi remember? .. i still prefer RWD if given a choice... if possible, I dont want ANY power in the front...
Not say better or worse.. just personal preferences...
That is why i said i might still end up with 1.... even tho i dont really like the design... either that or i will join the SUV dark side and get a X3M... for $70k.... it is a performance bargain...
I am just worried that i might flip the car from turning too fast

Based on the track videos I've seen of the X3M being flogged, I don't think you'd flip it unless you were being a real idiot. That said, I'd get the X3 M40i and save yourself the money. Toss a mild tune on and you have a X3M for a lot less cash.
Also, this is the very first car I've seen where they put front plates on it to make it look better. I don't think I've ever seen a brochure where they have a front plate on the show car in recent times.

I have never "owned" a real M car... i think i would wanna do it right at least once... Ideally i would wanna get the M4GC.... but i think the timing of its release and the markup/discount at the time will put it out of my price range.
and ppl are getting 10% off MSRP on X3M even before this COVID19 thing... so that alone is very attractive to me... but i dont really like SUVs.... sigh..

I can't wait to see what aftermarket solution will be. I am sure there will be a lot cuz M3/M4 will have the same face...

That's fair. I can appreciate that for sure. 10% off MSRP is tempting though...

M3 will have the same face? I thought it would be based off the 3 series?
Just got a text from my dad that he's looking at a '72 280SE Mercedes today, might pick it up for $500. Might have a fun project in the works soon.

He got the car. Probably a week or two before he can get it home. Needs to get new tires on it to be able to roll it out of the garage (grass yard area) where it's stored.
Would do too much damage to the seller's yard to back the truck & trailer in there.
Hopefully at minimum, it can be broken up, if there is necessity for upper & lower airflow.
Keep the kidneys on top for the BMW look & go with a single opening across the bottom.
All look good... except i just can't overlook the nose..

Since the introduction of M4 - F80, M3/M4 share the same front end and M4 is based on the 4 series
The back is where the differences are.
The next M3/M4 will be the same.
Just look at how good that one looks...

LOL @ that tiny US license plate tho...
I can't do it. I really wanted to get the next gen M3 in manual for myself as I've always wanted one but I can't do that nose. That and they discontinued the euro delivery program.
I'd honestly wait a year or two or until the facelift hits before getting a M3. This design is so widely hated that they'll probably change or tweak it to be better.
Is BMW trying to copy Lexus with the big, open, and ugly grille? I mean, I see some historical lineage, but it's really hysterical lineage (the Bangle days?)

Guess it's off to another brand.
i am sure there will be a lot of aftermarket solution for the nose. The aftermarket solutions in 2020 seems to be a lot better in quality and fitment when compare to our old days...
Also if you wanted a Manual... you dont really have any other choices.

I'm not buying a $75k car just to turn to the aftermarket to fix the shitty styling. I'd rather have a good auto and an awesome looking car out of the gate.
People are gonna buy the 4-series regardless, because BMW
That front end is an atrocity though, if they honestly don't change it within a year or two I will be surprised. But if they don't, I won't be surprised because of what I said above #circularlogic
