I wasn't being too picky about that kinda stuff - I didn't find any with the other criteria I wanted that didn't have wood. I would have also liked one with nav. But I'll deal.

Of course you can't be too picky when you are finding a used one.

You can't do much about the Nav now, but you can always change out those wood trims.

You noob.

Srika doesn't care about BMWs. His friends only drive exotics.

Oh really. If it's so easy and common to do, not sure why you're bitching and moaning about the wood on my car. Hehe

Anyway, that's a good pick up.

No navi is a way to go. Those cars are fun to drive.

Any plan on modding?

You like it without navi? Curious why for your reasons

Yeah I am thinking I'll do downpipe , intakes/filters, some exhaust work, and maybe the JB4 flash thing. Gotta make sure the car is ready to handle it first. I hear the fuel pumps are buggers on these. Any stories or reco's to share?

Less electronics, less potential issues.

Plus Google Map on the phone is so much better than the POS navi systems.

That's why I maintain that NAV is a great tool if you know where you're going.
When my wife first moved here, hers took her over an hour out of the way, so it could take the easy all highway route.

yeah, its def helpful to have an easily accessible map like that, right in front of you

also the 335 has no apparently convenient place to hold a smartphone for this purpose - I usually put it on the dash somewhere, like in the instrument cluster - it is taking up like 2/3 of the area lol - blocks 75% of the tach - maybe I will consider an aftermarket mount of some kind

thanks maybe I have to try Waze.

to give you an example, Google Maps fked me over when I was going to buy this car just a couple days ago - the dealer was about 15 miles West of me. Now, I knew this, and I know the city where the dealer is, so I *should have* been able to stay on the right course just out of common sense - but what the hell do I have this app for then? When I'm using it I tend to put all my faith in it Anyways Google Maps tells me to take a highway (294) North about 13 miles in to the trip - now - the problem is, once you take this exit, the next exit is 10 miles away, up by O'Hare. So here I am driving way out like this, and the stupid thing this is the 2nd time this has happened so I feel like a total dunce haha. While I'm driving, I am noticing there is a huge traffic jam on the south-bound side. Epic fail. So I had to finally get to that exit, and then take a local route to where I needed to go. I lost about 40 minutes because of this. Sooooo annoying.

I hate navi btw.. it's useful like 0.001% of the time I'm driving. But what I do like is when there's weather or planning a road trip, knowing the traffic conditions and where da popo at is invaluable!

Yesterday we had a lot of road construction and several storms. It told me where lights were out, flooding, accidents, relative speed of commuters.. saved me at least 30 mins in my commute. I flip it open only for such occasion.

Congrats on the 335i, R! As to the fuel pump, you should have a warranty out to 120k miles due to a recall on these. I had one replaced shortly after buying mine (around 45k miles) and I'm starting to get symptoms that I may losing one again (~95k miles). I already checked with my service adviser and he assured me it will be covered (he ran my VIN).

delivery at O'Hare today. I would rather have my 335. Just less hassle and things all around.

nice and nice to hear on the warranty - I didn't look into this stuff too much - and I'm OK with putting some money in to fix stuff. It has 63k miles. I have to replace one control arm (driver's front) causing some vibration.

what are the symptoms?

thanks, actually I kind of forgot you had one, now I know I can pick your brain about it!

Here's a pretty good Q&A thread on the issue: Official "HPFP" Questions and Answers thread ("Engine Failure — Reduced Power" error) - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums

On my first one, I had a couple of situations where the car idled really rough at start up and then a "Service Engine Soon" message came up on the MFD, along with a "Reduced Power" message (i.e. Limp Mode). I took it in to a dealer, it was quickly diagnosed and I had the car back in 24 hours.

This time around, I haven't had the rough idle issue at all, but I've had two situations where I was just driving along and got the "Service Engine Soon" and "Reduced Power" light out of nowhere. In both cases, the power was reduced by the control unit, but the engine ran fine. I've checked with my Service Adviser who said he agreed with me on my thinking that this was probably the HPFP and he ran my VIN to make sure I am under the extended warranty of 120K (I am). So, I'm really just waiting for the lights to hit again and I'll make an appointment.

I've never had the car leave me stranded for this issue, or any other. I had a plastic charge pipe break once, but even then the car ran on limp mode and I was able to drive it to the dealership the next day.
