General Car Talk Discussion Thread
Ok here is a brief review as i am not going to create a thread as there will not be any modding other than "tints" and some "minor cosmetic add ons"
2015 435i GC RWD 8AT
Ordered the car 3 months ago and just picked it up last Saturday.
Car was ordered with options/trims the way i wanted.
Power: it feels faster than my F30 335i as expected
Chassis/suspension: this is where it gets very interesting. It addressed all the issues i had with my F30. It is stiff.. even in Comfort mode, the suspension is stiff. I LIKE IT! The 428 Loaner i had is what made me want to dump my 335i 1 year earlier.
Steering: The steering still feels light in Comfort model but Sport Mode is acceptable
Idrive/Navi: F30 was 2013 MY. In 2 years, so much has improved on a already good system. There are so many added features in the 15' in the Idrive.
One of the them being, i can configure the Sport Mode (steering, throttle and chassis) now and i don't even have adaptive M suspension.
MPG - with 8AT, it is supposed to be getting better MPG than my 6mt 335. I am averaging 3mpg lower so far.
Runflat - it is still as bad as i remember. Will be changing them out soon. The car feels somewhat unstable at 80mph+. I know it is the runflats.
Interior: overall it is the same as my F30 but difference in detail only few would notice.
The ambient lights are longer and brighter. Frameless windows are cool. Steering wheel buttons are different. and I have the Brushed Alumium/Glassy Pearl Chrome combo, which is a combination that you cannot order. Let me know if you see another one
LED headlight - I remember we had a debate several months ago about HID vs. LED. i put my $$ where my mouth is and ordered the new car with LED. As i suspected, I am disappointed. The light is brighter and whiter. But the cutout sucks. It reminds me putting HID in a halogen housing. A good projector HID setup is still better as far as visibility goes. But LED definitely looks cool at day time or at night.
Why not wait for the 340?
#1, deal will not be as good
#2, while the LED tails are good but i prefer the look of 4 series (low, wide and long) and 4GC offer the perfect compromise between practicability and looks.
Will you miss the 6mt?
Yes. I already do after 3 days of ownership of the autotragic. I will give it a few more months.
But the 4 series definitely drive noticeable better than the 3 series. It is more than just a coupe version of the 3 series.
Here are just some quick shots:

Son Sets Fire To Gifted Ferrari In Order To Upgrade To New Model

Spoiled Son Sets Fire To Gifted Ferrari In Order To Upgrade To New Model
In a bizarre case out of Europe, a 20-year-old Swiss man reportedly set fire to a Ferrari 458 Italia given to him by his father in a half-baked scheme to use the insurance money to upgrade to a new model. Incredibly, the spoiled brat is said to have had 14 other cars (including a Lamborghini) at his disposal in addition to a property portfolio worth close to $30 million and a monthly allowance that fluctuated between $5,000 and $10,000.
As Swiss publication 20 Minutes first reported, the 20-year-old in March of 2014 visited a dealership to get his car valued so that he could trade it in for a new model, possibly the 458 Speciale which went on sale about then. The quote he received was $193,500, which wasn’t enough to cover the cost of the new model.
It’s alleged the man was short of funds at the time so one of the dealers suggested he destroy his car in order to claim the insurance value, which presumably was higher than the quoted value. Three accomplices were recruited, including a person working at the dealership, and to avoid suspicion the group crossed the border into Germany to do the dirty deed.
Once they found a quiet area, the 20-year-old and one of the accomplices visited a massage parlor while the other two set fire to the car. However, security camera footage and telephone recordings led to a prompt arrest of those involved.
The information surrounding the case was divulged in court proceedings that took place last week in Augsburg, Germany, close to where the car was destroyed. The 20-year-old was sentenced to 22 months of probation and was given a fine of $33,000. The accomplices received probations of between 14 and 16 months each. In court, the 20-year-old said he didn’t have the courage to tell his father that he no longer liked his gifted Ferrari.

So while looking for a good rate for a used auto loan it appears it is a full 1% or more higher rate wise if I buy a used car from an individual vs buying it from a dealer. That is kind of a bummer. That could make my Vagon search much harder.
Yeah.. it sucks. Check with different banks and local credit unions. One of my local credit unions was only a quarter point higher than the lowest rate I secured with my bank, but the dealer found a bank that was .75 lower then the rate I secured elsewhere.
That dealer network will pinch as much juice as they can even if they only make a few pennies. I'm hardly paying anything in interest.

I will sell it to him if he gives my asking price which for what all it includes I don't believe is asking a lot.
