As far as the Toyota vs Raptor debate, I'd get a TRD Pro 4Runner and call it a day. Yes, a Raptor is a true bad ass, but I would never use it to its potential. I think it's more of a niche

That being said, I wouldn't use a TRD Pro 4Runner to its full potential either, so carry on

So.. C&D ran an article about the Hellcat and putting down the best 1/4. They matched the stockies (P Zeros - 275, ~$500), mid-range (Nitto NT555s - 275, ~$250), and slicks (Hoosier 28.0s on steel wheels, ~$350).

I don't have the article with me.. but they prepped the tires and did several runs. The Nitto's spanked that ass.. 2-3 tenths faster and trapped 5-6 mph more than both the P Zeros and Slicks.

Buying NT555s up before they jump in price. I had them on the TL.. good summer tire. Only okay in the wet.

damn, why are they even putting P-Zero on there stock - pointless IMO seeing how those tires will be toast so quickly - you gotta put some cheap tires that perform well - cue the Nittos - drop the mic -

If I got a Hellcat - first thing I would remove and sell the tires - and put some shitty Hankooks or something on there and go blazing haha

with that much power and torque, i don't know how much can the stock rear axle/tranny last when you put "better" tires.

Ask SSFTSX; he'll know. He's the resident expert on tire performance.

Correct...if you take the RLX and upgrade those tires, fark...no car can stand its way. Not even the Poopdick McFartington.

regarding breaking things due to too much traction, it's not like you would be running Mickey Thompson drags on the street - it could be a different story at the dragstrip tho -

Not sure how many of ya'll are classic Japanese car enthusiasts, but a buddy introduced this site to me. They're all pre-90 cars to comply with the law, but all of them besides the GT-Rs have sold for under $20K.

Japanese Classics - 100% Legal Imported Japanese Cars

Have to have cash in hand & ready to buy though; cars sell very fast.

Pretty pricey but I'd love an R32. I wish I could've sold Japan my "classic" 88 Mercury Topaz.

I guess I just have no knowledge of GT-Rs on the US market, but under $25K seems fair to me except that $20-25K seems to be the ballpark regardless of the condition.

The one for sale has 124,000 miles, & in good condition @ $22K. And they sold one for $23K that was near-mint condition, complete OEM refreshed engine & trans with a few rare aftermarket goodies. And another sold for $24K that had 68,000 miles but tuned to 660WHP in great condition.

Heart is still set on a C6Z, but a R32 would be very swaying if it weren't difficult to actually get the necessary financing/loan for one.

Ken and I were discussing future classic cars that will be worth stupid money in 25+ years. I just realized this on Monday but if anybody wants to buy a BRZ or FR-S and put it away in stock form, it'll likely be worth stupid money in due time. Firstly, the car won't be around for much longer if my spidey senses prove correct and secondly, every single one around here is stanced, riced and otherwise modded almost to the point of being unrecognizable. I almost never see one stock unless it's still got temp tags.

Much like unmolested final-gen Supra Turbos go for WAY more than they did new thanks to all the Fast & Furious replicas with overnight parts from Japan, I believe a good clean stock BRZ will be a good bet as a future collectible.

Yeah seriously when I think of BRZ I think of the word Buzz with all the modded ones with buzzy exhaust out there.

I wonder if the G8 GT will be a future rare classic. I liked it and it was rare and fast.

I think the BRZ/FR-S will be similar to a first-gen Miata. Great cars, but not rare enough (compared to a Supra, for example) to be worth anything for quite a long while. Anecdotal, but I would say about half I see here are modified, half appear stock.

I'm curious, why don't you think it'll be around long?

I was a little far away

So I googled Pagani Miami and the below came up. It had a strong resemblance. I remember it was colored similarly. Saw it briefly parked at a restaurant valet. I realize it's a stupidly rare version of the Zonda but I even checked with my friend and he thinks it looks similar.

Sales are tanking and though it was never meant to be high-volume, I think that'll be all the reason Toyota/Subaru needs to cut life support.

I'm curious why unless it just can't compete with other similarly priced vehicles.

It was supposed to be the "240SX" of our generation & introduce a cheap, RWD back on the market for the enthusiasts who can't afford higher end cars. Maybe all the fuss since its release as just died, or said enthusiasts still can't afford it?

My brother in law's brother has an 03 Cobra. Def gotta be on the list of insta classics. I was thinking also of Integra Type R, Civic Si (if ever found stock), Camaro SS of the late 90's, Corvette Grand Sport (blue and white).

They don't look cool off the showroom floor. The wheels and Prius tires don't help. Even if the skinny rubber was intentional because it makes the car more enjoyable to drive, they don't look cool.

The changes that Subaru made the BRZ tS help a lot. But the BRZ is also expensive.

The BRZ/FRS has its charm but it gets lost in a sea of other good cars for that money. The new Miata, the GTI, and the Mustang are all good cars that cost between $20-30K. And that list doesn't include the Mini, the Camaro, the Challenger, the 500 Abarth, the Genesis coupe, etc ...

The BRZ tS is going to cost an arm and a leg. At least the JDM as fvck crowd should be willing to take that silly wing in exchange for a stock trunk lid plus cash.

Car is close to 13-+years old as is. Only the Anniversary models (mainly '02s) are holding value & they're all <20,000 mile cars to begin with.

Average price right now is reportedly $10,000. Same as the turd gen. before it.

"Why Scion FR-S Sales Have Plunged: The Life and Times of an Ultra-Niche Product"

Scion FR-S Sales Decline: The Life of an Ultra-Niche Product ? News ? Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog

Now Scion’s relying on normal people to eat up the FR-S, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that anyone who isn’t familiar with the nuances of lift-throttle oversteer, precise steering, and an ultra-low center of gravity probably might prefer their affordable two-door jollies to take the form of a Honda Accord coupe or the refined new Ford Mustang.
I think this point captures the essence of the article. Had no idea sales had gone down that much.

The cars mentioned in CM's post have some sort of appeal to the average consumer - drama, looks, or a base model to share some of the development costs. But the twins appeal only to driving enthusiasts.
