Yummy, you move this post and I keel you!
I think/hope this will be the new trend and will hopefully help get away from ugly ipad stuck on top of dash look and hopefully away from the dual screens (stacked on top of each other like Honda/Acura.

For a supercar that is an awesome interior and setup.

But for your normal production car, what about the infotainment and other stuff that is controlled through the screen? I think it still has to be there.

A mixture is a good compromise. Like in my ST, directions are given on the screen between the gauges. But you can still obviously pull up the map and navigation info on the main screen.

Plus, with the new backup camera laws, some kind of screen is needed anyway.

So the backup camera screen is in the DIS, IIRC. I can understand the point of letting the passenger change the radio but that can be fixed with a LCD in one of the knobs you see in the middle. In fact, I think that's what Audi does. There's a knob and a screen built into it. It might not be on this R8 but I do recall having seen something like that. It's basically a rocker knob that allows you to scroll through menu items like HVAC or Radio/SAT/Media. You press the button and it brings up the sub-menu. Then rocker left or right for settings and click the LCD/button to confirm. Obviously, not the best solution for old farts

But other than that, what does the passenger need to have access to? I could see a day where there's a bluetooth connection to the infotainment and an app for iPhone/Android that allows the passenger to change channels from their phone or tablet (which they'd have out anyway). Perhaps even navigation control.

GM puts the backup camera screen in its rear view mirrors. It's pretty ingenious solution.

One of the few disappointing things about owning a Mustang is that the owner community is full of people with whom I have very little in common. I've visited half a dozen boards and Reddit and don't feel like there are enough owners that are interested in the same things I am.

To be honest, I'm a snob. I'll admit it. It makes me appreciate Car Talk that much more. Despite the noobs and the Honda spokespeople, Car Talk continues to be the best car-themed place on the Interwebs.

Wow. While I know that was a heartfelt post...it was borderline of the :ghey:, right there, chuckmike.

You don't deserve that Ford Accord. Give it.

I have so little in common with the dude that puts straight pipes on his automatic V6 Mustang from 2004. But I guess that's true of Acurazine too.

I just don't associate with peasants

Methinks YOUR problem on those forums is that those close-minded members will not agree with you that your car looks like the Honda Accord.

You rike us because well, we all are unified and connected by the agreement that Ford shamelessly copied Honda.

LOL, exactly. I keep trying to tell them it's an Accord but they won't listen

FYI since some of you don't frequent the thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblin.../#post15366121

But, the sale is just terrific and you can get your hands on some insane 1/18 cars (i.e. Zonda R) for a FANTASTIC price.

My ride to the airport today was a 2004 Honda Accord wagon (I'm in Iceland)

Yeah, the wagon which Acura never got until 2011. It was quite nice, basically a base model TSX and possibly less sound deadening. My traveling companions noted how well it drove for being over 11 years old.

10 day old post, but yeah I couldn't agree with the sentiment more. The members on some Ford forums seem to think their Fusions are 1) the equivalent of a MB S-Class 2) a race car 3) some combination of the two. Many seem to think blow off valves, 17" black rims, and racing stripes makes their Fusion look like the tits. Complicated by the fact that any thread that mentions competitors (Mazda6, Accord, Sonata, etc) ends up in some form of "ricer" or "Jap Crap" name calling. It's gross and I can't really relate...so, I'm still here.

Some very positive reviews coming out about the Mercedes C450. It's expensive though ($60-65k with most desirable options). It does make me look forward to seeing the C-Class coupe this fall at the auto shows. I bet a C450 coupe will be quite a car.

Probably more A5/S5 than M4, focused on luxury sporting rather than sporting with some luxury.

Some guy has an M4 at work. I got to check it out a bit. It's nice but it's less flashy than the M3, even in Yas Marina Blue. I almost thought it was a 435i at first glance. It has a nice usable back seat. obamanotbad.

saw one on the street the other day - instant thought, it looks like a mini-S-Class. I think it looks really nice and a good step up from the outgoing model.

Very similar with the Challenger, and Im sure other domestic brands. There is my car club where I have made some friends, but overall if I were not in the club I dont think I would even want to talk to 2/3s of them.

And the forums...forget it. The majority are a bunch of close minded right wingers with a touch of prejudiced.

At least in car talk there are true car fans, not blinded by a single marque...the fanboys are usually driven out.
